    Aston Villa 2-0 Man Utd

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a brilliant free-kick. Manchester United haven't started and I don't know if they can come back from this, being 2 -0 down after 10 minutes because this place is erupting. The fans have been brilliant and it was an unbelievable free-kick from Lucas Digne.

    Southampton 0-0 Newcastle

The flag is up for offside, so it's likely this wouldn't have counted, but Saints will still breathe a sigh of relief.

Gavin Bazunu's shocking attempted clearance is straight to a Newcastle player and they have men in abundance around the home box. They work it to Sean Longstaff, who has just Bazunu to beat and fails. Then the flag rises.

There's absolutely nothing lucky about this start by Aston Villa. They are playing with pace and energy, with Leon Bailey in particular excellent. He is everywhere and Manchester United's players just don't know how to mark him.

Paul Lummis: Every one of United's best performances has come when Ronaldo doesn't start. Buying a new forward in January has to be the number one priority as this simply does not work any more.

    Said Benrahma

It's lashing it down at London Stadium but that's a SCORCHER from Said Benrahma!

There is nothing Palace keeper Vicente Guaita can do as Benrahma lashes home from about 20 yards.

That's got Hammers fans out of their seats after a slow start.

Villa look a completely different side.

Now Emiliano Buendia goes close with an attempt which flashes just over. Even Matty Cash has had an attempt.

Manchester United are struggling to get a grip.

    West Ham 0-0 Crystal Palace

It's still Palace who are carving out the best chances at London Stadium. Patrick Vieira's side have had four attempts on target. They just need someone to stick the ball in the back of the net.

This is being played at a lightning pace.

What a start by Aston Villa!

Manchester United's players look stunned and Cristiano Ronaldo has his arms outstretched as the referee walks past him.

Really interesting to watch with that free-kick as Villa keeper Emi Martinez was way up in the Manchester United half and appeared to be giving instructions to his team-mates for where to place the free kick.

Whatever he did, it appeared to work!

What a start to Unai Emery's reign!

Villa have a free-kick about 25 yards out and Lucas Digne is standing over it.

Up he steps and beats the dive of David de Gea. It's an outstanding set-piece.

The Unai Emery era is up and running with a bang!

Emi Martinez ran to the fans behind his goal and punched the air with delight at that goal and the roof (if Villa Park had one) has just come off.

It has been a great start by Villa and they are deservedly ahead.

  20. 'Grit' and 'Determination' from Arsenalpublished at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal

    Steve Crossman
BBC Radio 5 live at Stanford Bridge

You would've thought that coming to Stamford Bridge, Aaron Ramsdale would have quite a bit to do, in fact it was the opposite. Chelsea were no where near good enough, way off the mark. Arsenal showed grit and determination and they pulled Chelsea about at times, they were all over them and they deserved to win. They could've won more, they should've won by more.
