Rodri doesn't tend to get many headlines at Manchester City but he has slipped easily into that midfield position and is so effective amid all the stars around him.

It looks like an easy goal for the Spain international. But he needed quick feet to get the ball to Riyad Mahrez and then had to stay alert to score.

Manchester City are well worth their lead.

Only Illan Meslier's brilliant efforts in goal, and a couple of poor misses from Jack Grealish, had prevented them from running away with the game in that first half.

City had 16 shots in the opening 45 minutes, which is their most at half-time in a Premier League game away from home since March 2019.

That will be a tough one for Leeds to take. Jesse Marsch's side have been limited in attack and getting to the break level looked crucial.

Now they need to come back against a Manchester City side that is unbeaten in their last 30 Premier League matches when leading at half-time - winning 29 of those games.

Leeds almost got there, but Manchester City have the lead at half-time courtesy of Rodri's stoppage-time strike.

That's an awful miss by Jack Grealish!

It's clear who the danger men are too. Of those 12 attempts, 75% of them have been set up by Riyad Mahrez (five chances created) or Kevin De Bruyne (four chances created).

Leeds are almost at the interval but they need to keep going until the whistle to ensure all their hard work so far is not undone.

Almost! Riyad Mahrez ghosts into the box to meet a cross over his shoulder but misjudges the flight ever so slightly and misses the target.

Manchester City are soon asking questions up the other end and they're awarded a free-kick out wide on the right.

Kevin de Bruyne uses it to roll a clever pass across to Jack Grealish just outside the penalty area but he fluffs his lines and sends a first-time shot high and wide to the delight of the home support.

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier is single-handedly keeping Leeds United in this.

That is three terrific saves from the French youngster so far.

Meslier was overlooked for the France World Cup squad but it does appear he is highly rated in his home country and a senior call-up is anticipated in the not too distant future.

The hosts get forward and get the crowd excited, but groans ring around the ground as Wilfried Gnonto's attempted cross from the left fails to find a team-mate.

Adam Forshaw slips as he looks to carry the ball away from his penalty area and it almost proves costly, but Rasmus Kristensen is able to block Jack Grealish's attempt to the left of the Leeds goal.

"Get into em!" is a shout that has been heard often from the home fans. They know their team is outmatched here against a superior City, but they demand that they at least compete.

They're having to rely on Illan Meslier a bit too much for comfort, but the home side are certainly putting in a shift.

Manager Jesse Marsch is clapping his hands plenty, so he seems pretty happy.

The spaces are beginning to open up now for Manchester City, but when they do break through Illan Meslier is there for Leeds.

This time it's Ilkay Gundogan who gets himself into the box but Meslier is ready and waiting by the time he has swivelled to take on the shot.

Cube: City are reminding me of Spain at the World Cup. So much possession with little end result.

Christian Evans: Lots of possession for City but their passing is all going sideways. It doesn't feel like they're getting close to breaking Leeds down.

Manchester City are turning up the heat and Grealish slides in at the back post to meet a cross - but he scoops his shot well over the bar. He's signalling that he wanted that on his head, but he really should do better there.

Illan Meslier rescues Leeds again!

It's a scene he would have seen in his nightmares running up to this match, as Erling Haaland charges towards goal.

But Meslier rushes out to make a superb save and deny the City striker once more. Great goalkeeping.
