Ducado: I hope the Grealish hate will now stop. That was a great decision.

Dan: That goal doesn't happen without Grealish, and does he go himself? Nope, he unselfishly squares Haaland for a tap-in. Everyone else can slate him but City fans are happy enough with him.

    Leeds 0-2 Man City

Their side are 2-0 down but the Leeds supporters sound as loud as they have at any other point in this match. Jesse Marsch is encouraging his players from the sidelines, trying to get them to go up another gear. They're looking much, much better going forward now.

  3. 'Grealish was really dynamic'published at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2022

Grealish, who I thought was the poorest City player on the pitch in the first half, was alive to that one. Once he broke through, he was really dynamic: knocking it past the centre-half and providing a little side pass.

Haaland hits the back of the net - he was never going to miss from there. The game was setting up to be quite interesting in the second half, as well. Leeds were looking to get back in to it.

It's wide open now, as Leeds chase a lifeline. It's a long way back but that was almost a start!

Brenden Aaronson is in space in the box but fails to trouble Ederson as he smashes over the bar.

Maybe it was the memory of all those missed chances in the first-half or maybe he felt sorry for Erling Haaland because it had been over two hours since his last goal.

Either way, Jack Grealish took the unselfish option then and ensured Manchester City got a second goal which should seal this game.

It will be interesting now to see if Kalvin Phillips is introduced at some point.

It's totally unselfish. Brilliant from Grealish. The two centre-backs here, Cooper and Koch. I don't know what they're playing at.

Cooper has got no idea that Grealish is behind him. Grealish is very very clever. All Haaland needs to do is hold his line and he gets a tap in. So simple from City's point of view. Koch gets caught ball watching. You cannot do that against any opposition, particularly this opposition.

    Erling Haaland

    Erling Haaland makes it two!

For all his first-half struggles it's a brilliant assist by Jack Grealish, who finds himself clear on goal after a clever interception. One-on-one with Illan Meslier, he unselfishly opts to roll the ball to his left to tee up Haaland for a tap-in against his father's former club.

Yet another goal added to the Norwegian's tally!

  8. Bernardo Silva the litter collectorpublished at 21:10 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2022

Bernardo Silva was warming up by the side of the pitch when the wind blew some litter towards the pitch.

He quickly grabbed it and tucked it behind the advertising hoarding.

Sadly a crisp packet blew past a couple of seconds later and he was unable to retrieve that.

How will Leeds approach this second half? Jesse Marsch would have been preparing a rather positive half-time team talk after 45 minutes but that soon changed after City's late opener.

Can they offer more of a threat in this second half? It's the visitors who look much more lively going forward still.

Jesse Marsch treats the crowd to a few keepy uppies on the touchline as he waits for a Manchester City to collect the ball for a throw-in.

Back in the action, Jack Grealish is on the receiving end of a crunching tackle by Rasmus Kristensen, who escapes further punishment.

  11. 'It's the De Bruyne show'published at 21:06 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2022

    Leeds 0-1 Man City

City have been excellent throughout. We talked before the game about how Leeds would come out to try to put pressure on them but they really haven't done that at all.

Leeds have sat back, got in a good shape and tried to force the ball out wide. As the game has gone on, City have taken real control and got in between the lines. They've pushed it out wide and found space either side of the centre-halves.

Whichever way Leeds try to play, however they try to block them, City and Pep find a way through them. Every chance that you see City creating is De Bruyne to Mahrez, Grealish and so on. It's the De Bruyne show - he has been outstanding.

The Jack [Grealish] at Aston Villa is certainly not the one we see at Man City. Whether that's because of him or because it's the way Pep wants him to play.

He has never been a prolific scorer but he certainly should have one or maybe two tonight. He takes up good positions. The positive is that he is getting into those positions.

The Jack that excites people is the one that we saw at Villa when he goes past defenders one on one. Here he tends to go sideways or backwards and we know he can do more than that.

Jack Grealish had a match-leading five shots in the first half, with an expected goals value of 0.54 (another match-high), but he failed to land a single one on target.

As many of you have pointed out, it really wasn't his half at all. Will his fortunes change in the second half? Will he get the chance? We're about to find out.

The goal had definitely been coming. Kevin de Bruyne has been at the heart of everything City have done and they were flooding forward once they got the ball there.

    It's well-deserved.

    HT: Leeds 0-1 Man City

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on Amazon Prime

Leeds have had to rely on good goalkeeping to keep it at 0-0 for the vast majority of the half. Jesse Marsch's team talk has to change because they had stayed in the game and defended reasonably well.

All of a sudden, a quality bit of play from Man City. De Bruyne finds that bit of quality as he has done throughout that first half. Rodri gets the luck that he deserves. It absolutely changes the team talk but if it wasn't for Meslier it would have been two or three and game over.

Dan: I’ve said it before but Pep has 'coached' all the fun - and, therefore, the point - out of Jack Grealish.

David: I doubt whether Pep will persevere with Grealish. He has been a poor buy and everyone can see that.

It's an excellent goal. The pass selection is correct throughout. Everyone of them makes a good decision. It's so simple. Ball comes back to Rodri and he has the simplest of tap ins. Excellent finish.
