We were saying it was over as a contest. Pep was making subs as if it was.

Leeds are probably the only team in the league who can keep going with the energy they've got.

    Leeds 1-3 Man City

Erling Haaland is in for his hat-trick!

    Surely?! No!

He can't get his feet sorted out and a tame low shot is pounced on by Illan Meslier.

  3. 'Quality delivery from Greenwood'published at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2022

    Leeds 1-3 Man city

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker & manager on Amazon Prime

What a ball. What a cross. Great delivery. It's all about the pace and the quality of the ball from Greenwood. Struijk gives the keeper no chance, he just redirects his header.

Stones probably covers his goalkeeper too much, not sure that he would have saved it anyway. Struijk gets Leeds back in the game. The quality of the set play was excellent.

There's a bit of a cup-tie feel to this now.

Another Leeds goal would really get the Elland Road crowd going.

  5. Rico Lewis is growing in staturepublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2022

That is another excellent performance from Rico Lewis.

Given the players Pep Guardiola has to choose from, it is probably unrealistic Lewis, at 18, can hold down a regular starting spot with Manchester City.

However, he has shown Pep Guardiola he is capable of being effective in the Premier League and, if he keeps developing, is a first-team regular of the future.

    Pascal Struijk

    Hello!

Leeds earn themselves a corner amid all the substitutions and Pascal Struijk produces an excellent header to guide Sam Greenwood's accurate set-piece beyond the reach of Ederson.

Great cross, great finish, game on?

Another double change here for Leeds. Rodrigo and skipper Liam Cooper make way for Joe Gelhardt and Diego Llorente.

A chorus of boos. What else could it mean? Jack Grealish's name is announced to the crowd as his number comes up. On comes Phil Foden for the final 20 minutes.

Kerry Winslow: You knew it was coming.

Tom: All the Jack haters out in force this evening. Pep has had a word at half-time and this second-half performance from him has been superb.

Off goes Jack Grealish, bombing down the left.

Here comes the boos, and here comes the foul too. Mateusz Klich does not even attempt to get the ball there and gets a booking - as does Wilfried Gnonto who plays up to the crowd by coming in and shoving Grealish.

    Free-kick.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

    Leeds 0-3 Man City

And for Manchester City, 18-year-old Rico Lewis makes way to bring an end to his fine first Premier League start.

    Joao Cancelo joins the action.

    Leeds 0-3 Man City

Haaland has made that look easy but it's come back to him really quickly.

He's got over it, opened his body up really well and side-footed it in. The keeper tries to get across and cover but there was nothing he could do about it. It's been coming.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Leeds 0-3 Man City

We've got a double change for Leeds in response to that third Manchester City goal.

Rasmus Kristensen and Adam Forshaw are replaced by Mateusz Klich and Luke Ayling.

  13. 'Tremendous ball from Grealish'published at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2022

    Leeds 0-3 Man City

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker & manager on Amazon Prime

The ball back from Grealish was tremendous. It opens it up for Haaland for the easiest of finishes. It's a very very good goal. It's fantastic centre-forward play. People have been critical of Grealish but his pass selection for Man City's last two goals has been brilliant.

    Leeds 0-3 Man City

It really has been a match of two halves for Mr Grealish, hasn't it.

  15. goal

GOAL - Leeds 0-3 Man Citypublished at 64 mins

    Erling Haaland

Another Erling Haaland goal - and another fine Jack Grealish assist!

Make it 26 goals in 20 games for Manchester City for the prolific 22-year-old. You almost have to double-take at his age, don't you?

He's on for his fourth City hat-trick now, after Grealish cuts the ball back to set him up for another straightforward finish.

Sam Greenwood stands over the free-kick... But he fails to lift it over the wall. That's a good chance wasted, really.

He got a good ovation from the Leeds fans, who then give him some good natured abuse over his weight.

He is laughing - and the Leeds fans applaud him.

Manuel Akanji misses a pass and Leeds are on to it.

Wilfried Gnonto drives at the Manchester City backline and draws the foul from Rico Lewis, who becomes the first player to receive a booking.

This is a free-kick in a very handy position...

Elland Road is really rocking, you'd think the scoreline had been flipped.

Kalvin Phillips wears a big smile on his face as he warms up at his old ground in front of the Leeds supporters.

Erling Haaland has scored 25 goals in 20 appearances under Pep Guardiola.

That's the quickest that any player has reached 25 goals under Guardiola at any of his top-flight clubs.

The question must be asked again; just how many will he score this season?!
