  3. Can Bellingham equal Owen record?published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2022

In the last game against Iran, Jude Bellingham (at age 19 years and 145-days-old) became England's second-youngest World Cup goalscorer, after Michael Owen (18 years and 190-days old).

If Bellingham scores against the USA tonight, he can equal Owen's record of two England World Cup goals as a teenager.

Thee 19-year-old is one of six teenagers that have featured for England at a World Cup.

That list includes three of his current international teammates; Raheem Sterling (3 appearances as teenager), Luke Shaw (1 appearance) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (1 appearance).

The under-10s and under 11s teams at Jude Bellingham’s home town club, Stourbridge FC, in the West Midlands are having an impromptu extra training session to burn off some energy before England's match against USA.

After some passing drills around a circle with defenders harrying the player on the ball, the teams move on to a shooting practice next, honing their accuracy by taking turns to strike the ball with either foot.

    Ecuador have equalised.

There were questions over whether Enner Valencia was offside but the goal is given.

Valencia has now scored each of Ecuador's last six goals at the World Cup.

Fully understand the reasoning of giving other players game time but for tonight I would start with the same team we started against Iran. At this point surely we need to continue with that momentum and rhythm going into this game. England to qualify out of the group tonight. England 3 USA 2

  8. HALF-TIME - Netherlands 1-0 Ecuadorpublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2022

    Netherlands 1-0 Ecuador

Ecuador had an equaliser disallowed for offside just before half-time but the Netherlands head into the break 1-0 up thanks to a brilliant goal from Cody Gakpo.

It's no wonder the 23-year-old has been attracting interest and has been linked with a big move away from PSV recently.

Considering the short turnaround between games, coupled with the huge amounts of time added on being played....if Gareth really sees us going deep in the tournament he needs to utilise the squad to keep people fresh. I'd love to see Foden, Wilson, White and Gallagher get some game time tonight. 2-0 England!

Here's a quick look at how things currently stand in Group B.

England are top of the group after their 6-2 win against Iran on Monday and victory against the USA tonight will guarantee they progress to the knockout stages.

If the USA do lose against Gareth Southgate's side tonight, then it's all to play for in a bid to secure the other qualifying spot.

Here's the next round of fixtures in Group B. Both games are on Tuesday 29 November at 19:00 GMT.

    England v USA (19:00 GMT)

Chris Sutton World Cup predictionsImage source, BBC Sport

Here's how Chris Sutton thinks England v USA will pan out:

"The United States are a high-intensity, high-pressing team and really aggressive with that… but, as we saw against Wales, they fade late on," Sutton said.

"England will have too much for them - they know a lot of their players and they know they are better than them. There are some interesting head-to-heads, like Bukayo Saka going up against Antonee Robinson, who he gave a real going over when Arsenal played Fulham earlier in the season.

"I don't see the US causing England many problems at all to be honest but l also don't think Gareth Southgate's men will put lots of goals past them just because they did that against Iran.

"By the way, there is no way England should rest Harry Kane after his injury scare. We're not in a position to take any other nations lightly, especially in the second game of a tournament when we haven't got out of the group. Kane has to play."

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

What do we think? Do you agree with Sutton's prediction?

Excitement is building in England star Jude Bellingham’s home town Stourbridge, West Midlands, ahead of England's clash with USA.

Amye Evitts, from Tipton, is predicting a 3-1 win for England, saying "if we do as well as we did in the Euros [last summer] we will give it [winning the World Cup] a good shot".

Despite being an Aston Villa fan, the 19-year-old, says she is happy to cheer on ex-Birmingham City player Bellingham - even if she thinks it’s "saft" the club retired his shirt number when he left to play for Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

Chanelle Marcella-Wint is hoping bedtime goes well with nine-month-old Luca, so he’s happily asleep in time for her and her partner to watch the 19:00 kick-off.

She thinks midfielder Jude Bellingham has done a “great job of putting Stourbridge on the map".

Chanelle is in the town centre, where a mural is dedicated to Bellingham, to buy food so she can watch the match at home with her partner later. Their fifth anniversary coincides with tonight’s game.

Let's step away from the World Cup for a second to take a look at some news relating to Cristiano Ronaldo, who left Manchester United by mutual consent on Tuesday.

Saudi club Al-Nassr FC has offered Ronaldo €225 million to join the club, Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reports.

It cites informed sources as saying that negotiations with his agent have reached an “advanced stage” but that Ronaldo doesn’t want to discuss his future until after the World Cup.
