Football mad newlyweds Beca and Richard Thomas have flown to the Middle East to spend their honeymoon at the World Cup.

The couple married two weeks ago and, ever since Wales qualified for their first World Cup since 1958, they knew there was only one destination.

Mrs Thomas said she and her other half agreed the plan was "perfect".

"We married a fortnight ago during half-term and we have photos of us wearing bucket hats on our special day"

They are staying in Dubai but travelling to Qatar so they can watch the games with the rest of the Red Wall.

Mr Thomas said: "For the USA match we were sitting amongst the American fans in the stadium, but tomorrow we will be amongst the Welsh fans, so we are really looking forward to that."

It's certainly a difficult time for the Iran players and staff, given the anti-government protests in their home country.

    Wales 0-0 Iran

I may be slightly bias given I went to went to Cardiff University, but the Welsh anthem is one of my favourite at this World Cup as it stirs up plenty of emotion.

All eyes this time though were on the Iranian anthem.

The players did sing the words this time after choosing not to before their opener with England.

I'm already struggling to hear the presenters through my earpiece...

The music’s pumping, the crowd have their bucket hats on and beers in hand - it’s buzzing in the welsh capital. There’s whiff of apprehension in the air, along with the delightful smell of bacon.

Because make no mistake, this is a must win today for Wales.

They sold out at the Depot venue weeks ago. And minutes before kick off, the 1,500 seater venue is full.

Fans from across wales, from Pontypridd to Pembrokeshire have taken a day off to watch Wales play their second game at a World Cup in over half a century.

Some fans are making the trip to Tenerife, along with thousands of others, for the “big one” against the old enemy (England) on Tuesday.

But today, expect Cardiff, and Wales, to erupt if Gareth Bale’s men can get that must needed victory...

After his success in correctly predicting Japan's 2-1 win over Germany, Chris Sutton has had his say on the second round of group games in Qatar.

In the four games today, Chris is predicting wins for England, Senegal and the Netherlands and a draw between Wales and Iran.

"From the Wales fans I have met in Doha, or listened to on 5 Live, there is some Welsh arrogance out there - they are dismissing Iran already.

"That is a dangerous game, and they might just regret it."

France boss Didier Deschamps is asked if Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is fit and ready to play against Denmark.

"He could have played [in the opener]. He was ready to play in the first game. He was fit. We discussed these issues with him.

"He is still fit for the second game. Of course we have to make choices. His experience is one thing to take into account of course.

"The main thing is that he is ready and fit and I know that’s the case so I will have to take a decision in that regard."

    Wales v Iran (10:00 GMT)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Wales forward Ian Rush has stressed the importance of a fast start from his country today after their struggles in the first half of the 1-1 draw with the USA.

A late Gareth Bale penalty salvaged a draw for Wales after Tim Weah had given the United States the lead in their opening Group B match..

Speaking to Radio 5 Live, he said: “This is going to be a massive game for Wales. We struggled in the first half, I thought they were a little bit nervous and USA took advantage of that.

“We need to make sure that we don’t start slowly today.”

Rush says he is predicting a 2-0 win for Wales.

"But it's more important that we try and get the victory. Hopefully we can and it'll make it even more special.

"It will be a difficult game versus Iran - they are a very good team. They are here for a reason, but of course we believe we can beat them."

"We’ll still be friends after the match. It’s a 90-minute battle which will be very important for both countries," Lloris said.

"We will suspend that friendship for 90 minutes but will be again afterwards. We have a very good relationship.

"I’m sure he will have a very important role to play in the Danish side. It will be great to see him and Christian [Eriksen] as well."

One of the big talking points of Iran’s opening game against England was the players’ apparent refusal to sing the national anthem - which was seen as a show of solidarity with the anti-government protests that have been taking place in the country over the last two months.

Yesterday, reports emerged out of Iran that former Iranian international Voria Ghafouri had been arrested for "tarnishing the reputation of the national team and spreading propaganda against the state".

Ghafouri recently condemned the state's crackdown on protests.

His name became a top-trending hashtag on Twitter, with users praising him for "standing with his people" and calling for his release.

This morning’s conservative media have carried images of Cristiano Ronaldo appearing emotional as he sung the Portuguese national anthem before the match against Ghana yesterday.

"The tears" is how one news agency captioned the image.

Neymar appeared to be in tears on the bench at the end of Brazil's opening World Cup win over Serbia after being substituted with a sprained ankle.

Brazil's team doctor confirmed the forward suffered the injury and that it will be reassessed on Friday.

"We are confident Neymar will continue playing in the World Cup," Brazil head coach Tite insisted.

The 30-year-old was replaced in the 80th minute of Thursday's 2-0 win after a heavy tackle from Nikola Milenkovic.

He sat with his face covered while receiving treatment and pictures showed his right ankle was heavily swollen.

"I didn't see Neymar was injured - the capacity he has to overcome it tricked even me," Tite added when asked why Neymar was not withdrawn earlier.

The Selecao face Switzerland in their second Group G game on Monday (16:00 GMT).
