    Uruguay 0-0 South Korea

Uruguay v South Korea proved a chance to bring together two Manchester United alumni in Diego Forlan and Park Ji-sung.

They were both spotted together at the Education City Stadium in Qatar, watching as their respective nations played out a goalless draw in Group H.

Park and Forlan's paths never actually crossed at United - Forlan left in 2004 after a couple of season at Old Trafford and Park joined the Red Devils in 2005.

    Wales v Iran (10:00 GMT)

    BBC Breakfast

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, former Wales international Ian Rush said: "We got to the quarter-finals last time in 1958. Hopefully we can do the same.

"What this bunch of players have done by qualifying for this World Cup has put Wales on the world map. People in the Middle East now know Wales is not in England. We are a nation to be proud of.

"We all look after each other. Together stronger, as they saying goes. If you're an individual you win nothing and the players are nothing without the fans. Put that all together and you have got Wales.

"There were more USA fans there but the 3.000 Wales fans made more noise. There are going to be 10-15,000 Wales fans singing so the players will love that.

"I'm just rooting for Wales. My job is for Wales to qualify for the knockout stages. If England can get through good luck to them, but I'm here for Wales."

  3. Wales fans stuck in Dubai to miss game over entry problempublished at 09:14 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2022

Dozens of Wales fans have been turned away at Dubai airport and will miss the crucial World Cup game against Iran.

A "glitch in the system" has meant that many supporters' Hayya cards - the permit needed to enter Qatar for the tournament - have not been accepted.

One told BBC Radio Cymru that he was one of 13 in a "hellish" situation because he could not board his flight on Friday morning.

Hywel Price, from Cardiff, said he expects that hundreds more could be facing the same issues.

He has been staying in Dubai - like many other Wales fans - and had travelled to Doha earlier this week without any issues for the Wales v USA game.

However, on Friday morning Mr Price was told he could not board his flight as the permit was still pending on the app.

"People have had emails saying that their cards were valid, only to find when they get to the airport that they have been refused entry," he added.

We are hearing from Fance captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris ahead of their second group game with Denmark.

They have suffered recently against Denmark, losing twice in the Nations League in 2022.

Asked if Lloris is keen for "revenge" against Denmark he said: "No it’s a different competition but it gives you an idea of the level of this Danish team.

"It is an excellent side and they are capable of beating the best. It’s a wake-up for us. We don’t need any extra motivation.

"We are fully aware of the importance of tomorrow’s game. We know it will be a decisive game for qualification.

"Every team is in a good place physically and athletically. We know it will be a big challenge and we have to be ready."

    Wales v Iran (10:00 GMT)

Wales struggled in the first half of their opening game against USA.

Part of that may have been nerves, with them playing in their first World Cup in 64 years, and some of it may have been tactical.

Bournemouth striker Keiffer Moore came on at half-time and gave Wales an out ball and something to play around.

Former captain Ashley Williams says Moore is the difference maker and is crucial to Wales.

Cristiano Ronaldo can't keep out of the headlines, can he?

He became the first man to score in five successive World Cups when he lashed home a second-half penalty to open the scoring against Ghana.

It led to Portugal boss Fernando Santo calling Ronaldo, who is now a free agent after his departure from Manchester United this week, a "phenomenon" and "legend".

Team-mate Ruben Neves called him "the best player in the world" too.

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Doha

Richarlison may have to justify his place as Brazil's number nine to outsiders but he used his debut on the World Cup stage to demonstrate exactly why coach Tite is unswerving in his admiration.

Tottenham's striker is up against formidable competition for his place in the team in Qatar from the likes of Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus and Rodrygo of Real Madrid, while Liverpool's Roberto Firmino did not even make the journey.

In a squad overflowing with attacking riches, Tite has made Richarlison his first-choice striker to complement the gifts of Neymar and Vinicius Junior, and was the spearhead as the tournament favourites opened with an impressive 2-0 win over Serbia at Lusail Stadium.

Richarlison ended Brazil's frustration in the face of Serbia's massed defensive ranks when he pounced after goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic turned away Vinicius Junior's shot just after the hour.

Then real moment of magic arrived, a piece of skill that had the finest traditions of Brazilian football running right through it.

Richarlison initially failed to control Vinicius' cross but re-adjusted instantly, taking to the air and showing perfect technique and athleticism to flash home an unstoppable right-foot volley.

  18. 'Brains in the middle, legs out wide’ - What Wales need against Iranpublished at 08:11 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2022

    Wales v Iran (10:00

    GabbidonImage source, BBC Sport

It won't be easy for Wales against Iran, but we have to win - and we can learn from England to get the result we need.

I know we don't have the same quality throughout our team that England do, but the way they got their 6-2 win still has to be the blueprint for Rob Page in Friday's game.

I am talking about the tempo they set and how they moved the ball quickly, got it into wide areas and then delivered it into the box.

They kept putting the Iran defence under pressure, kept asking them questions… and we saw what happened in the end.

We have got the players to do that too, but we will need the right formation to build attacks the way I want us to, and for me that means switching to four at the back - again, exactly like England did.

There’s plenty of Welsh fans on their way to the game on the metro in Doha. One man tells me he’s going for a 3-0 win. “Oh, you’re confident,” his friend replies before more cautiously going for a narrow 2-1 win.

As we're speaking, a large crowd of Iran fans come up the escalator blowing trumpets and stamping the ground.

“You’ll need to make some noise soon,” I said.

“We’ll make plenty of noise, don’t you worry,” they reply.
