    Oh hello, it's heating up.

Ben Godfrey and Marcus Rashford challenge for the ball on the far touchline and then there's a bit of pushing and shoving before red and blue shirts pile in.

Referee Darren England gives both players a talking to.

This is really enjoyable as a neutral. Fabulous blend of brilliant and terrible football.

By scoring so early, the issue for Manchester United was always going to be one of focus.

If they had kept it, they would probably have won easily.

As it is, they have got sloppy. David de Gea's mistake was clear but there have been mis-placed passes and opponents not being closed down properly.

If United are not careful, Everton, backed by this very noisy and large travelling support, may well spring a surprise.

grgsirrose: I think Roy Keane makes De Gea nervous.

Colin Reardon: De Gea has one or two of them in him every season! Awesome shot-stopper but frightening lapses at times!

Prinxe Charles: That’s the worst bit of goalkeeping since Massimo Taibi.

Everton are now winning the ball higher up the pitch, which is allowing the defence to push up.

United are finding it more difficult to get in behind.

The problem for the Everton centre-backs is that the strikers are dropping off, leaving them with no one to mark and then the runners are coming from deep.

That's where they need to open themselves up, not close themselves off, otherwise they'll be in trouble with those runners from midfield.

Both teams are focusing their attacking efforts down the left so far. Anthony Martial has had three of Manchester United's six efforts on goal hitting the target once.

It seems to be that every chance that Man Utd have had has come from an Everton mistake.

It's sloppy from Onana in the midfield and it's a really good save from Pickford otherwise United would be 2-1 up.

Yesterday, Erik ten Hag welcomed Jack Butland to the club by stating David de Gea was clearly his number one goalkeeper.

Manchester United are rapid on the break and should retake the lead.

Marcus Rashford darts forward and feeds the run of Anthony Martial who is in on goal, but the Frenchman is denied by Jordan Pickford's big save, stretching himself to deny Martial.

Everton have grown into the game more and more. It's a mistake from De Gea after a bit of a nothing ball from Maupay.

He thinks it's going out, doesn't react and the ball goes through his legs and Coady was there. It is a shocking mistake from David de Gea.

Did David de Gea try and control that? He should have done better with that.

It is a lifeline for Everton. They need any bit of luck they can get.

GOAL - Man Utd 1-1 Evertonpublished at 13 mins

    Conor Coady

    Equaliser!!

It's an absolute howler from David de Gea, gifting a goal to Everton.

Amadou Onana wins the ball on the edge of the box and lays it off for Neal Maupay, whose shot towards the near post catches the United goalkeeper unaware.

He is holding the post and the ball goes through his legs, falling into the path of Conor Coady to tap in the easier of finishes.

A superb response from Everton after falling behind.

And Everton suddenly come to life in the final third and almost level.

Demarai Gray has space on the edge of the area and smashes a shot against the foot of the post.

The ball cannons back off David de Gea and some fans think it's gone in, but the balls tickles just wide.

  19. CLOSE!published at 11 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Everton

Everton look like conceding everytime Manchester United come forward.

Again it's lovely play from Marcus Rashford, occupying his defender before laying the ball off for Christian Eriksen, who sees his shot blocked, before Casemiro thrashed wide.

That chance came about after Alex Iwobi - again - gave the ball away in the centre circle to United's Brazil midfielder.

It is interesting Erik ten Hag has gone with Luke Shaw in central defence tonight.

Shaw was outstanding in the role for Manchester United in their Christmas games with Nottingham Forest and Wolves before making a goal-scoring contribution from full-back against Bournemouth on Tuesday.

It looks to me as though Erik ten Hag intends to pick Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof for Tuesday's EFL Cup tie with Charlton before Lisandro Martinez returns for the Manchester derby.
