Dean Williams: This is where the thinness of our squad becomes a serious issue: Arteta needs to yank Xhaka unless we want to play most of the 2nd half with ten men, but who is there on the bench? No one really. Tough 2nd half incoming for the Gunners

    Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

Oooh. Aaron Ramsdale's mistake almost allows Newcastle in but Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock can't find space to shoot.

Newcastle keep possession though and it's fizzed across the six-yard area, inches past Callum Wilson.

  3. Postpublished at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Leicester 0-1 Fulham

Jamie Vardy had six touches in that first half.

    Everton 0-1 Brighton

I have been very impressed by 18-year-old Brighton striker Evan Ferguson. He has the first shot of the second half at Everton after working himself some space on the edge of the box.

  5. Postpublished at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

Granit Xhaka nudges Joelinton from behind. He's already on a yellow but luckily misses out on another.

  6. Postpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

Almost! Granit Xhaka, to Martin Odegaard, slid through to Bukayo Saka. He almost cuts it back but picked off just in time by Dan Burn.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Bournemouth

So good so far for Manchester United.

Bournemouth have lost 44 of the 47 Premier League away matches when they have been behind at half-time although worth pointing out that the other three were wins.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

Getting back under way in the three earlier kick-offs. Will we get a goal at the Emirates? Can Leicester and Everton come from behind?

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Bournemouth

Alejandro Garnacho races into the rain to replace Donny van de Beek for Manchester United.

  10. Postpublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Bournemouth

Donny van de Beek is up on his feet but looks to be in some distress as he heads towards the touchline.

The Dutch midfielder has only made two Premier League starts for Manchester United under Erik Ten Hag and is going to have to go off here although as the home side don't have anyone ready to come on they will have to play with 10 men for a couple of minutes.

  11. Postpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Bournemouth

A bright Bournemouth move ends with Dominic Solanke's effort clipping off Victor Lindelof and out for a corner.

The hosts clear that easily and then get a free-kick on the edge of their own box when Marcos Senesi clatters into Donny van de Beek. That looked like a painful one.

Early on the referee got a bit carried away and there were a couple of tackles early on I wasn't sure about.

Some of them were a talking to, not a card. Sometimes you have to referee the conditions, that sounds silly but the speed of this game and how it's been played in the conditions where it's wet and windy do come into play. I'm not saying allow the game to get out of control with reckless tackles but just let it go a bit.

I wouldn't start jumping on him and saying he's had a nightmare though, I think just a few of the challenges he has made a bit of a rod for his own back.

  13. 'Arsenal need to calm down'published at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    HT: Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal need to calm it down a bit, love the passion and intensity but there's moments where it's got to simmer and they've got to let their quality shine.

Credit to Newcastle they weathered the storm, Arsenal really came out of the blocks trying to punish Newcastle early on so credit to them for coping with it.

  14. Postpublished at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Bournemouth

Christian Eriksen's free-kick clips a Bournemouth head and goes out for a corner which Gary O'Neil's side then clear comfortably.

  15. Postpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    HT: Leicester 0-1 Fulham

Fulham are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League matches when leading at half-time (W7 D4) dating back to 20 January 2019 against Tottenham Hotspur (a 2-1 defeat).

Leicester have trailed four times at the break in the Premier League this season and lost them all.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Bournemouth

Philip Billing pulls Casemiro back on the edge of the Bournemouth penalty area and gets a yellow card for his troubles.

Good position this for Manchester United with Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen stood over the ball.

  18. Postpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

Newcastle United have stopped the opposition from scoring a first-half goal in 16 of their 18 games, more than any other in the English Premier League this season.

  19. Postpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Bournemouth

Great ball. Bruno Fernandes almost picks out Marcus Rashford at the back post as the hosts go hunting a second. Only a brilliant Lloyd Kelly clearance prevents that.

  20. 'Speed caught out Joelinton'published at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2023

    HT: Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was the speed which caught him out. A glancing header but Joelinton was at the back post in a great position, where any goal scorer wants to be.

It's very close - a considerable miss from Joelinton.
