Peter: I was so hopeful for Southampton at the start of the season. I don't really know where it's gone wrong, but this game will be the nail in the coffin if it stays the same.

Mac: It's hard to watch a West Ham team bereft of ideas. Rice has already gone. Time for Moyes to go too

Rob: Here we go again. Villa are certainly consistent in their inconsistency. Great win against Spurs only to then look second best to a team in the bottom 3. Doesn't matter who is in charge. Its been that way for years probably since the days of Martin O'Neill.

    Leeds 1-0 West Ham

    Roof of the net!

Illan Meslier leaves his box to clear a ball forward and it falls to Vladimir Coufal, who has never scored for West Ham.

His first-time shot is high and loops towards goal before dropping on to the roof of the net. Now that would have been a way to score your first goal for a club.

Ken: Can someone please tell me exactly where Kane is playing? Is he a centre forward, a winger or a centre mid? Infuriating man.

Jim: Spurs running the second most distance this season is so misleading. They've been chasing shadows and getting nowhere.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Tottenham

Tottenham are knocking the ball about well enough but really struggling to find a way through in the final third.

Crystal Palace are yet to manage a shot on target although Wilfried Zaha is not far off as he leaps to meet a cross but it is just over his head.

    Leeds 1-0 West Ham

We've not seen much of West Ham going forward of late, but this is a chance!

The ball is chipped into the air for Lucas Paqueta, who can't get an effort away first time but has a second bite under pressure that he sends into the sidenetting from a tight angle.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Wolves

There are roars of disapproval from the home fans now.

Wolves are causing all sorts of bother. Emiliano Buendia gives the ball away but Diego Costa is on a different wavelength to Daniel Podence and the latter's through ball runs out of play.

West Ham don't know whether to stick or twist, to go tight or come short. This is a problem.

    Big chance for 2-0!

A Leeds corner is only half-cleared, to near the penalty spot. Brenden Aaronson is on it in a flash but can't keep his first-time shot down.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2023

    Southampton 0-1 Nottm Forest

The whistle goes for half time and Nottingham Forest have what could prove to be a significant lead.

Frustrating times continue for Southampton, who need a huge second half.

  10. Kehrer is strugglingpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2023

    Leeds 1-0 West Ham

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Elland Road

West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer is not having the best game so far.

The German has put his team in trouble with two mis-placed back passes and then gifted Leeds an attacking opportunity when he went to let the ball roll out for a goal-kick, unaware a home player was right behind him.

The former PSG man arrived at West Ham with a £10m price-tag and a big reputation but hasn't done much to justify it so far.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Wolves

Julen Lopetegui looks to have done a job already with Wolves here.

They look a threat whenever they surge forward. Hwang Hee-chan's cross is deflected behind for a corner that is allowed to drop and then hurriedly hacked clear by Villa.

Anon: Conte is dividing opinion amongst Spurs fans at the moment, but anyone who doubts him just needs to look at our bench. Championship level. This is the result of years of Levy not investing in the team when we were genuinely competing under Poch. When you put this into context with Jamie Carragher saying Liverpool need to spend £200m just to compete, we have no chance of staying in touch with top 4.

  13. West Ham in troublepublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2023

    Leeds 1-0 West Ham

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Elland Road

They call it scoreboard pressure in cricket.

It's the pressure applied by the position of a game at a particular time rather than the overall result.

Currently, West Ham have slipped to second bottom in the Premier League (Everton are also in the relegation zone).

David Moyes needs to find some answers quickly.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Tottenham

A nice move by Tottenham down the right before they work the ball across the pitch to the other flank. They are retaining possession well but without doing too much with it yet to worry Palace.

Mike: I am very glad I didn't bother going to the game tonight at St Mary's. As a Saints fan we are a laughing stock and a joke...

James: The ONLY positives for Saints this season is we beat Chelsea and we are guaranteed not to repeat Derby’s 2007–2008 campaign, but ONLY by one point. I just can’t see where any others will come from this season. Something is VERY wrong.

    Leeds 1-0 West Ham

Wilfried Gnonto has confidence pumping through his veins now.

He is found in the box again, this time by a chipped ball from Tyler Adams, and opts to volley a shot that is straight at Lukasz Fabianski.

As it stands West Ham are in the bottom three, along with Everton.

What a goal, the atmosphere, everybody is up and delighted with that strike.

It was a great finish but for me this is all about Summerville with a little disguised pass.

Gnonto hits it so well, goalkeeper had no chance.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2023

    Southampton 0-1 Nottm Forest

Remo Freuler is the first player to booked for a late tackle. It's almost half time and Southampton haven't managed a shot on target yet and you can sense the frustration growing around the ground.
