Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

You would expect Brentford to be the better team with the home record they have, only Arsenal have managed to beat them here this season.

It's been a bit of a bitty game. Conditions aren't helping - the pitch and the wind, but certainly Brentford have been the better side.

  3. 'It was not good enough'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    FT: Nott'm Forest 2-0 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester midfielder Marc Albrighton: “Disappointing. We were better in the first half and created a couple of chances. The aggression and fight was there. We didn’t see that against Newcastle [in the EFL Cup in midweek].

“But once they get the goal it knocked the stuffing out of us. If you concede to any team in the league it is always an uphill task. We pushed, but it was not good enough.

“We are not playing well. There’s no excuses but when you are down there and struggling then these types of chances don’t go in.

“I know the reality of it. I’ve been involved in relegation scraps in this league for many years and know what it takes. We need to make sure as many people in that dressing room know what it takes as well."

On the reaction of the fans at full-time: "The fans are entitled to their opinion but I would say stick with us. We are one club, be it fans, staff, players. We all need support in tough times. I’ve seen some amazing times here and the fans have been a massive part of that. We will try as hard as we can.

“We are in a relegation scrap. It is still early, we have time to put it right, but the end of the season will come quick at us.”

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 34 mins

    Brentford 0-0 Bournemouth

Lewis Cook comes back on and goes down again, he's done. Ben Pearson replaces him in the Bournemouth midfield.

Cook never recovered from a 50-50 tackle with Mathias Jensen.

  6. 'We have to work hard to find solutions'published at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    FT: Nott'm Forest 2-0 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers to Sky Sports: “There weren’t so many chances in the game, but we didn’t take them.

“We started the second half really poorly, we were too slow and gave the ball away which gave a bit of momentum to them.

“The first goal is a really disappointing one from our perspective. To lose our discipline in the middle of the field and to be so open was disappointing.”

On how Leicester can turn their form around: “It is like earlier in the season. We have to work hard to find solutions. We felt good at half-time without being in front. But we started too slow and lost our concentration, which allowed them opportunities in the game.

“There is a long way to go. It is a long season. We haven’t played well consistently. We were on a great run before the World Cup but we have to find the solutions again and keep fighting.”

On potential January signings: “If we sign a player you guys will be first to know about it. Until then we will work hard and look to the next game.”

  12. 'We have to take responsibility, myself first'published at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    FT: Everton 1-2 Southampton

    Everton

Everton manager Frank Lampard, speaking to Sky Sports: "There is no questioning the passion. It was a difficult game because of two teams not where we want to be, fighting it out. We had our chances and didn't take them. It can be like that. It is an unfortunate day. We have to take responsibility, myself first. We have to do better.

"We were OK in the first half. We played quite direct and had an idea of what we wanted to do. I said to the players 'this is not a huge tactical game, it is more of sticking together and continue with the right effort'. The fans here relate to that. The goal after half-time changed the game.

"When you take this job you understand the nature of it. I want to get things right here. I will try and do the best job I can possibly do. We had amazing times last year staying up when people thought we would be relegated."

  16. 'Reaction is the only thing that is important'published at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    FT: Everton 1-2 Southampton

    Everton

Everton manager Frank Lampard, speaking to Match of the Day: "It's obviously difficult and disappointing, especially when you go 1-0 up. It's a tough game, there's a lot of tension for both teams I think. We deserved to be 1-0 in the first half with the passion in our game.

"It wasn't a tactical game, it was more of a fighting game. We showed spirit and then an early goal in the second half changes the tone of the game. We came back, created some things, we hit the bar but then, typically at the moment, we concede a free-kick and it goes in our net.

"Obviously, it's disappointing. It was a big game for us and we lost."

On off-field situation having an impact: "No, I'm completely focused on what we're doing on the pitch. The off-field noise is there but the things we can control as staff and players is on the pitch - and today we got beaten."

On the board missing the game due to safety concerns: "It's a difficult period. There is so much passion at this club for the right reasons, everyone wants the best for the club. Of course, over the years we've come in a direction where we were in a relegation battle last year and again this year."

On West Ham next: "They're all big games and we have to pick up because when you're in this position, you lose football matches unfortunately. The only thing that is important is the reaction. We have to take it on the chin tonight.

"It was a game that we really wanted to win. The effort of the players, the desire of the players was big. I cannot go against that but, in terms of the performance, when the game changes in the second half, we know that's not enough and I'll be the first to take responsibility for that."

  19. 'A really good day'published at 17:49 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    FT: Nottingham Forest 2-0 Leicester

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper to BBC Sport: "It's a big win. It is a local derby and you always want to do well for the supporters.

"I reminded the players of the support the fans gave when we were 4-0 down at the King Power [in the reverse match in October] so we wanted to give something back to the fans.

"It was a pretty even game in the first half. They missed a good chance but it was poor defending on our part.

"We took our chances but there is no doubt they were the better team, particularly in the second half.

"I'm really pleased Brennan [Johnson] has scored from open play. It's been coming, he has been working so hard and took his goals really well. He deserves that and the team deserve it. It capped off a really good day."

On an injury to Dean Henderson: "It doesn't look good. We will see how it settles down in the next 48 hours. It is a muscle injury."

On the rest of the season: "Step-by-step. It has been a heavy schedule with not much rest or training sessions with all the cup games.

"It will be good to get a training week in and get some work done. We will take it day-by-day and if we keep doing that we will give ourselves a chance."
