  3. 'Disappointing loss for us'published at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Sport: “It was a tight game. It was even first half. We were probably the better team for the first 20 minutes and then they came into it.

“Overall we were happy enough with our performance and then the start of the second half has made it really difficult for us. Once you are one nil down they can defend a little bit deeper and with more numbers and play on the counter. We huffed and puffed without doing enough to score but overall it is a disappointing loss for us.

“It sums up where we are at [Tottenham’s opener]. We don’t get the first contact and then a save and then a not great clearance. There wasn’t too much in the game but those key moments are not going our way.

"You can feel the desire of the players to turn results around but sometimes you go through moments where you have to suffer."

  4. 'The referee was good'published at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs assistant head coach Cristian Stellini to BBC Sport on the Hakim Ziyech overturned red card incident: "The referee was good and explained the situation to us. VAR needed time to see who the player was and then to check if it was violent or not so they took their time and make this decision.

On Oliver Skipp and Spurs' form: “Brilliant moment [for Oliver Skipp] and one that we expected for one year because it has been one year he stayed far from the pitch. Last season with physical problems and this year for tactical decisions.

"He is ready because he has trained a lot and pushed himself. He is an amazing guy and great player. A player like Skippy has to understand that if he trains a lot he will have possibilities to show his value."

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham assistant boss Cristian Stellini, speaking to BBC Sport: “Our desire was this to win, play a great game and to fight for every ball and we are happy for the fans, the club and of course for us and Antonio who is still at home.

"My expectation is that Antonio [Conte] will be back this week."

  11. 'We deserved win'published at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham captain Harry Kane, speaking to BBC Sport: "Chelsea have been a difficult opponent for us over the last few years. So it's a really important win to keep us around fourth. Overall I thought we deserved the win.

"It was an unbelievable goal [from Oliver Skipp] and what a time to get your first. He has been working hard so it was nice to see that one fly in.

"First half both teams created a few half chances. We struggled with our pressure a bit and sorted that out second half. I think we just showed a bit more quality in the final third and whenever you break the deadlock it helps open the game up. Another clean sheet, two goals, so overall a good home performance."

Time to put Chelsea and Potter out of this combined misery. Clueless, bad substitutions, no desire. Too many changes week to week. Emma Hayes, why not !!

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

We don't know which Tottenham will turn up from one week to the next, but it was the one we saw beat Manchester City that showed up today.

They had a game plan, sat deep and allowed Chelsea to have possession, especially in the first half. They were defensively excellent and then hurt Chelsea on the counter.

Lloyd Anderson: Boehly is equally as culpable for this pathetic situation, but the only thing that can change is the manager. Sorry, Potter, you've tried, but it's madness to keep doing the same thing and expecting things to improve.

  18. 'It was always going to be difficult'published at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was always going to be difficult for Graham Potter to take charge at Chelsea and progress the club in the way that he wants to. He has a completely different managerial style.

You could see in the first half that something is there but they aren't getting results and aren't good enough going forward.
