Chelsea Supporters' Trust have issued a statement after Graham Potter revealed he had received email abuse following the club's poor run of form.

"The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust is appalled that Graham Potter and his family have been subjected to death threats," it said.

"The actions of these individuals are disgusting, and they do not represent Chelsea FC supporters. No manager and their family should be subjected to any threats of this nature - we are deeply disappointed.

"While debate and criticism regarding personnel and performances are part of the game, this must never escalate into abusive behaviour directed at individuals and family members.

"These threats are beyond unacceptable and we support any subsequent investigation."

This is Graham Potter's 18th Premier League match in charge of Chelsea since he was appointed five months ago.

    He has won five.

Potter says his mental health has suffered after he and his family received anonymous abuse following the club's poor run of form.

"I've had some not particularly nice emails come through, that want me to die," he adds. "That's obviously not pleasant to receive.

"You could ask my family how life has been for me and for them. It's been not pleasant at all. If you go to work and somebody's swearing abuse at you, it's not going to be pleasant.

"With the results as they are, you accept criticism. That's not to say it's easy at all. Your family life suffers, your mental health suffers, your personality - it is hard."

Graham Potter sounds like a man under pressure and knows that if he doesn't win a few matches he could be in big trouble.

He would have been gone ages ago under Roman Abramovich because Chelsea have to finish in the top four.

The money they have spent, over £600m, and they still haven't brought in a centre forward.

    That makes me laugh.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has had a few match-days off lately but not today. He's back on the Chelsea bench.

This time last year Aubameyang was scoring for Barcelona in a 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao - seven days after hitting a hat-trick against Valencia.

Chelsea need him back firing again.

ConradK: Chelsea have absolutely no excuse for being this bad, Boehly has spent over half a BILLION pounds since he took over less than a year ago, and that's not including the investment over the previous seasons. Their wage bill is astronomical and Potter on a 5 year contract is laughing all the way to the bank. Whoever is in charge of finances at Chelsea has no idea what they’re doing.

It's a huge day for fans of Newcastle United and Manchester United with their teams looking to lift the League Cup at Wembley.

  11. Remember when?published at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

It's League Cup final day which always brings back special memories for Tottenham fans. Fifteen years ago Spurs defeated Chelsea at Wembley to lift the trophy.

Since 2008 they have won nothing of note, while Chelsea have gone on to secure 12 major trophies since being sunk by Jonathan Woodgate's winner - including three Premier Leagues and two Champions Leagues.

But the Blues are going backwards and their manager is under pressure.

Will Chelsea return to winning ways at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
