  1. 'An interesting decision'published at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Celtic 1-0 Morton

    Leanne Crichton
    Ex-Scotland international on BBC Sportscene

It's an interesting decision. We've seen them given, we've seen them not given. There's no disputing it came off Efe Ambrose. I'm not too sure what he could have done about it. If you concede within the first 20 minutes it can make for a long afternoon.

  5. VAR check...published at 15 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Morton

Referee Kevin Clancy has his finger in his ear, in conversation with his VAR colleagues. A suggestion of handball against Efe Ambrose...

A shot from Liel Abada pinged off another defender then on to the arm of Ambrose.

  6. 'Morton stifle Celtic momentum'published at 12:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Celtic 0-0 Morton

    Peter Grant
Former Celtic player on BBC Sportsound

With the set plays, everything takes a period of time and what that means is that Celtic can't build up the intensity to get the game to a high tempo, which suits Morton just fine.

  7. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Morton

The home crowd are quiet as Morton threaten from another corner. It's nodded down into the six yard box, but eventually smashed away by a defender in green and white.

  8. 'Make the attack count'published at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Celtic 0-0 Morton

    Leanne Crichton
    Ex-Scotland international on BBC Sportscene

It's a lovely bit of play down the left. Lewis Strapp is brave. When you're pinned back, when you get in to the final third you need to go and make that attack count. If only he had got a better contact on it. It was a brilliant opportunity for Morton.

  9. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Morton

Lewis Strapp has a monster long throw-in, so Morton are packing the Celtic penalty area again... Aaron Mooy hoofs clear but the Championship side come again. Strapp collects a sharp pass only to scuff a weak shot straight at Joe Hart.

  10. Postpublished at 6 mins

The excitement quickly fizzles out as Kyogo nods clear at the near post, under no pressure at all.

  12. Postpublished at 4 mins

Celtic skipper Callum McGregor lets fly with a low shot from 20 yards and it whistles narrowly past. I think the keeper had it covered.

The visitors, clad in bright yellow, are already camped in, defending their own penalty box, as former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose thumps away a clearance.

    Here we go...

Celtic have taken the Scottish Cup home a record 40 times.

Morton have experienced the glory once, way back in 1922.

  15. 'We'll give it our best'published at 12:14 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Celtic v Morton (12:15)

Morton manager Dougie Imrie: "We've just got to go out and give it our best. I've got to give my own players their moment. If any of them have aspirations to go to a higher level then this is the day they've got to showcase it.

"We know the magnitude of the tie, the players Celtic have brought in from Wednesday night. We are asking the experienced players to settle some of the younger lads down."

  16. 'Juranovic departure weakens Celtic'published at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Celtic v Morton (12:15)

    Shaun Maloney
Former Celtic & Scotland forward on Sportscene

I'm disappointed Juranovic is going. It weakens the team. He showed how good he was at the World Cup and, at times, in the Champions League.

  17. Postecoglou 'really pleased' for Juranovicpublished at 12:09 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Celtic v Morton (12:15)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou: "[On Josip Juranovic] It hasn't been finalised but obviously, if all things work out, he'll be moving on, which is great for him, really pleased for him. For us, he'll always be remembered fondly as a player that contributed to a special year.

"Giako [Giakoumakis] trained yesterday, almost there and he's got a few things going on in the background so I just thought I'd give him the the weekend off."

"Irrespective of who you play against, the cup tie element is the key bit. It's all about the result today. If you win, you progress; if you don't, it's the end of the competition for us."

    Celtic v Morton (12:15)

There was a League Cup shock back in 2013, with Morton pulling off an extra-time win at Celtic Park thanks to a goal from Dougie Imrie, who is now in charge of the Greenock side, who sit fifth in the Championship.

    Celtic v Morton (12:15)

These two haven't been top flight rivals since 1987-88, but there have been five Scottish Cup meetings since then. Celtic have won them all, including 3-0 home victories in the most recent games in 2018 and 2016.

  20. Turnbull starts, no Juranovicpublished at 11:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Celtic v Morton (12:15)

Callum McGregor played in 2018 and 2016 Scottish Cup wins over Morton and the Celtic captain is out there again today, while Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate get a rest.

It means a rare start in midfield for David Turnbull and Aaron Mooy is also included.

No Josip Juranovic in the home squad, with the Croatia full-back in Germany to discuss a move to Union Berlin.

Giorgos Giakoumakis isn't involved either. The big striker has been linked with a load of clubs all over the globe in the past few weeks.
