    FT: Morton 1-0 Dundee

I feel like we say it every week, but here goes:

The Championship, eh? It truly never lets you down.

Morton exemplified all that makes the division so special, with grit, guile and a whole lot of gumption. Some tipped them for relegation this season. Keep playing how they did tonight, and they might put themselves in with a shot of Premiership football next season.

That's the goal, too, for Dundee, who missed the chance to wrangle the title race firmly into their grasp. It's still in their hands... but this is The Championship. It's not going to be straightforward.

Cheers for your company, and have a cracking weekend.

    FT: Morton 1-0 Dundee

While Gary Bowyer couldn't provide much of an update on Kwame Thomas, he did confirm the Dundee striker has been taken to hospital.

Never nice to see a concussion substitute. Fingers crossed it's a quick recovery.

  3. What does it mean?published at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

    FT: Morton 1-0 Dundee

Do you need a reminder of how the table is shaping up after all that? Aye, me too.

So, Queen's Park remain top with 44 points after 25 games. Dundee missed the chance to go above The Spiders with a win, lying two points behind, but do still have a game in hand.

Ayr United, meanwhile, have played only 23 games, currently third on 39 points. Morton's win took them up 37 points having played 24 games.

Further back, Raith are on 34, Partick Thistle are on 33, and Inverness are on 32, though the Rovers have played two games more than those directly behind them with 25.

Got it? I might need a few more looks at the table on the BBC Sport website myself to wrap my head around it all.

  5. 'I can't fault my players' - Imriepublished at 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

    FT: Morton 1-0 Dundee

Morton manager Dougie Imrie heaped praise on his 'terrific' side, who now boast back-to-back wins against the top two.

He tells BBC Scotland: "I thought were terrific tonight, We limited Dundee to very little. On the flip side of that, I thought we were a real threat.

"It was important tonight to get off a flyer. I think, overall, we deserved the victory. You can only out five subs on, so I don't know why you need a bench of nine.

"I know what I've got in there. They give me absolutely everything and I can't fault a single one of them tonight.

"Since we've returned after February, we've been brilliant."

I image Lyall Cameron will be in no rush to watch past his gilt-edged opportunity in the first-half.

You can see how gutted he is.

  7. Slow start hampered Dundee, says Bowyerpublished at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

    FT: Dundee 1-0 Morton

Dundee boss Gary Bowyer was frustrated with how his side started the game, allowing Jack Baird to put Morton in front inside six minutes.

"We didn't start the game very well," he tells BBC Scotland. "We suffered with Kwame going off with concussion. I just didn't think we were quite clever enough in the second half with the territory that we had.

"Today is disappointing from the way we conceded. Whenever you lose a game, it's not what you want."

    FT: Morton 1-0 Dundee

Player of the match Liam Grimshaw says tonight's victory is a big win for his side.

He tells BBC Scotland: "When we play like that, we're difficult to play against us. We know how Dundee play."

"We're always prepared. To get a win over them, is a big win for us. Wins breed confidence, and it stands us in good stead for the rest of the season."

Cappielow erupts! It's a big, big win for Dougie Imrie's men.

Jack Baird's header on six minutes boosts their play-off status, now lying just two points off Ayr United in third.

For Dundee, the gap between themselves and leaders Queen's Park widens to two points, though Gary Bowyer's men still have a game in hand over The Spiders.

This Championship title race - it just keeps us guessing.

  11. FULL-TIME Queen's Park 1-1 Raith Roverspublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

It ends all square at Ochilview as the league leaders take only a point, failing to capitalise fully on what looks like a Dundee defeat.

Raith, meanwhile, continue their sensational run without defeat. That's 13 in a row now.

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

A crucial defensive header from Cammy Kerr at the back-post sends the ball away from a lurking Alex King.

Dundee fail to clear their lines properly and concede a corner, from which George Oakley gets ahead of his man and heads over.

The Morton fans behind the ball don't fancy giving the ball back to Adam Legzdins in a hurry, and can you blame them?

Robbie Crawford may have thought he'd gotten away without a booking there, but the referee calls him over and shows him yellow for a pull of the shirt.

Final change for Dundee as Lorent Tolaj replaces Lyall Cameron, who might still be wondering how he didn't level the game in the first half.

It's gone a little bit flat in the stands as Dundee enjoy a little more possession in an attempt to carve out an equaliser.

On the park, though, Morton are more than comfortable. Albeit, a few supporters of The Ton are nibbling their nails a little...

It may not have been a particularly busy night for Brian Schwake, but when he's been called into action, he's produced big saves.

He flies across goal to pull off a sprawling save there, denying Josh Mulligan.

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

You get the feeling Morton are very content with the state of play.

They're stifling their opposition, who have been in fine goalscoring form over the last five games, with relative ease.

    Can Dundee find a breakthrough?

Jordan McGhee has no complaints as he enters the referee's book for a tug on Carlo Pignatiello's jersey.

It's all a bit frustrated for the visitors at the moment.
