    Queen's Park 0-0 Raith Rovers

BBC Sport Scotland at Ochilview Park

It’s been a very tepid opening half hour or so in Stenhousemuir.

Rovers have had the better possession, with Goncalves causing the Queen's backline some headaches, but the best chance so far came for Dom Thomas.

The winger did well to create space on the edge of the box but his effort was just wide of Jamie MacDonald's right-hand post.

Pre-match, Gary Bowyer was waxing lyrical about the strength and depth in his squad.

For his opposite number, it couldn't be any more different. Grant Gillespie, Lewis Strapp and Robbie Muirhead are absent, to start a list, which you should never do.

In saying that, though, Dougie Imrie's players have given him everything and the fans are very appreciative, too. Why wouldn't you be, eh?

Now, Pignatiello is helping out in his own box by shepherding Josh Mulligan into a tame strike along the deck into Schwake's arms.

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

Carlo Pignatiello is really making his presence felt from set-pieces in this opening half an hour.

This time, he flicks an effort at goal which nestles safety into the grasp of Alex Legzdins.

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

There's the first real save of the game for Brian Schwake.

Alex Jakubiak wriggles around in the box, before getting a stiff strike away, forcing the Morton 'keeper down low to keep his side ahead.

Jai Quitongo attempts to dart forward on the counter, but is swiped down by Barry Maguire. Easy booking.

  6. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

Cammy Kerr, with one of those signature runs forward, pulls the ball back for Lyall Cameron.

The effort is blocked well by Callum Waters, but did for a second look like it might inadvertently spin into the top corner. Relief for the hosts.

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

When I said keep this pace up, I didn't mean faster than my fingers could type.

As Amy says, it's been all action so far in Renfrewshire. Morton look mightily impressive, knocking the ball about well and using their physicality at the right moments.

Goodness me, it’s all go! I’ve barely had a sip of my tea…

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

To be fair to Faddy, I thought that might have been in too.

Jack Baird is on the hunt for another as he pokes towards goal, but the captain's effort is prodded away...well before the line!

Moments before, Alex Legzdins made a stellar stop to denny Cammy Blues a goal on his 100th Ton appearance.

What a crazy goal that was.

Fans are looking up to us, asking “what happened there?”… everything just felt so static.

In saying that, though, the Morton fans do not care and they’re buzzing - what a start.

  11. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Morton 1-0 Dundee

The night ends prematurely for Kwame Thomas.

His efforts to defend his box from the corner results in an awkward fall for the on loan striker, who's being stretched off.

Josh Mulliagn comes on, which you'd think would see Alex Jakubiak move through the middle.

  12. goal

GOAL Morton 1-0 Dundeepublished at 6 mins

    Jack Baird

Two in two for the skipper.

Huge credit goes to Carlo Pignatiello for hooking the ball back into the danger area at a corner, allowing Jack Baird to keep up his unlikely goalscoring form up with a domineering header into the far corner.

    How will The Dee respond?

    Queen's Park 0-0 Raith Rovers

    Brian McLauchlin
    BBC Sport Scotland

While there is no doubt Dundee will fancy their chances of collecting all three points against Morton, they will only go top with a win and Queen's Park lose in their ‘home’ game against Raith Rovers.

Rovers are on a quite unbelievable run of 12 matches without a loss and a victory tonight could see them go fourth in the ever so competitive Championship table.

    Morton 0-0 Dundee

Almost the brightest of starts from the hosts as Carlo Pignatiello swipes one wide inside the box after a surging run from Jai Quitongo.

Let's keep this pace up, lads.

  16. Dundee squad a 'luxury' - Bowyerpublished at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

    Morton v Dundee (19:45)

Dundee manager Gary Bowyer says he has plenty of options on and off the bench in his title-contending squad.

He tells BBC Scotland: "Tonight presents us with another opportunity to show improvement.

"We have starters and we have finishers. We have that luxury. All we ask from the lads is that they make that impact off the bench. Fortunately, last weekend that happened."

  17. Big test ahead, says Imriepublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

    Morton v Dundee (19:45)

Morton boss Dougie Imrie has been chatting to BBC Scotland, praising his players' efforts this season, while anticipating a tough test from Dundee.

He said: "I know what the boys have got here, they've been terrific all season for me. I'm just hoping we can continue that tonight against a very good Dundee team. This will be a really big test for us, but it will show how far we've come.

"They're big and physical. They've got some really good players in their team. I think they'll go more direct tonight. It's one we're looking forward to."

  18. Oakley's hot startpublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

    Morton v Dundee (19:45)

Although he's still a young whippersnapper at just 27, I think it's fair to now dub George Oakley a journeyman striker. The Englishman has donned the colours of 11 different clubs in his senior career, and may be hoping he can settle down in Renfrewshire.

He looks to be making a decent tilt at it, with his three goals in two appearances so far meaning he's already bettered his goal tally at seven of those previous teams.

His brace inside 22 minutes built the foundation of The Ton's victory over the league leaders last weekend. Can he dent another of the tittle contenders' prospects tonight?

  19. Dundee hitting stride while Morton stop rutpublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

    Morton v Dundee (19:45)

Despite the opening stages of the season feeling somewhat stop-start for Dundee, they now seem to be truly hitting their stride as title-contenders.

They've only lost once in their last 14 league outings - a new year's defeat against Arbroath in which they were down to 10 men for the best part of an hour. They've certainly found their shooting boots in recent weeks too, with last weekend's 3-0 win over Cove making it 13 goals in their last five games in all competitions.

On the other hand, Morton have stuttered in recent weeks after a shock title charge looked on in the cards in the first half of the season.

Last weekend's 3-2 triumph over Queen's Park saw Dougie Imrie's side finally notch a win in 2023, ending a winless run of eight games in all competitions. I'm sure Dundee appreciated that one too.

    Morton v Dundee (19:45)

Before we hear what he has to say ahead of tonight's fixture, we've been chatting to self-confessed 'football anorak' Gary Bowyer about his love of the game.

The Dundee manager has made the switch to Scottish football one a successful one so far, embracing everything north of the border has to offer, from Stenhousemuir to St Andrews.

For more on Bowyer's favourite newfound spots, and how he views his time by the Tay so far, check out Tyrone Smith's interview.
