    FT: Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

Newcastle's long wait for a trophy continues.

They were beaten by Manchester United in the FA Cup final in 1999 and the same has happened here.

There are tears in a few eyes, including Bruno Guimaraes'. But the Toon players are still being cheered by their fans, who are all still here.

That's pride. They'll also be hoping this is a start of something, not a crushing finale.

I suspect they will be disappointed if it is where they end up but Manchester United are certain of at least a place in next season's Europa League.

Raphael Varane punches the air to responding cheers from the Manchester United fans as Marcus Rashford saunters past him with a smile from ear to ear.

Wout Weghorst is on his haunches, soaking it all in with a satisfied grin on his face.

The good times look to be returning to this highly-decorated club.

What a job by Erik ten Hag in such a short time at Manchester United.

They are challenging on four fronts this season. One of those trophies is now in the bag.

That is some grin he has on his face as he greets some of his victorious players on the pitch.

More aggro on the pitch. There are some angry and frustrated Newcastle players out there.

The referee breaks up a coming together of players and books two - I think it was Lisandro Martinez and Fabian Schar.

If they don't concede a goal, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will complete a club record 181 clean sheets, one more than Peter Schmeichel.

    Great save!

Lori Karius does superbly to throw himself out and block Bruno Fernandes' shot after Manchester United break away.

Fernandes had team-mates for company, screaming for the ball, but he went for glory.

Dalot and AWB are the perfect combination of right backs. Both amazing in their different ways and how ETH has used them with 45 mins each against Barca and Newcastle allows Man United to play so differently when they need to.

David de Gea makes a bit of a meal of what looks like a save he should easily make.

Kieran Trippier's free-kick is flicked on to send the ball looping towards the top corner before De Gea palms the ball away.

Lisandro Martinez just loves a flare up, doesn't he?

To be fair to him, it is not his fault that Callum Wilson kicks him. He responds by bending over the fallen Newcastle forward to tell him what he thinks of him.

Quickly, other players gather to pull them apart.

Just one Newcastle goal please please please. This is the third final I've watched and we haven't yet scored in any.

We are reaching the point of no return.

If Newcastle don't score, Manchester United will win the trophy.

They have had a lot of possession around their opponents' area but they haven't looked like getting the goal they desperately need.

    Oh, close!

The Newcastle free-kick is cleared but Jacob Murphy picks the loose ball up and fires a shot from way, way out that curls just past the post of David de Gea's goal.
