    Oh, Allan. Allan, Allan, Allan.

Saint-Maximin gets space on the left to cross but he taps the ball with his standing foot and completely fluffs his delivery out of play.

    Stephen Warnock

Newcastle have changed to a 4-4-2 with Isak alongside Wilson.

Straight away Manchester United are already finding gaps.

Newcastle need to up their game otherwise they'll be caught out again.

  3. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

Manchester United are screaming for handball as Wout Weghorst's pass towards two free team-mates in the box is blocked.

The referee isn't interested, though. Weghorst should have done much better there. One clean pass and surely it is 3-0.

  4. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

Isn't it great to see so many empty seats in the corporate bit of Wembley for a final for which tickets were so in demand.

  5. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

Attack is the best form of defence here for Man Utd. They are looking to kill this off early in the half.

Antony curls a shot but it is straight at Loris Karius.

Finally United starting to look like a team who are together as a team and not being dictated by overpaid premadonnas. Ten Haag has got them all playing as one unit.

Man Utd burst out of the blocks and create a great chance to put this game to bed.

Marcus Rashford sets up Fred on the edge of the box but he tamely side-foots wide.

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

Taking Dalot off makes perfect sense after he picked up that card.

That's the big thing from Ten Hag, he's not afraid to make a decision.

Get Isak on, maybe Willock and Anderson. Got for it! No matter what happens. Proud of this team.

If I was Ten Hag, I'd take Fred off. I can just see a red card coming.

  14. Newcastle applause but Man Utd in controlpublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Wembley Stadium

There was applause from the Newcastle fans near to the press box when the half-time whistle went but there was none of the pre-match fervour.

I did wonder whether their eight-day build-up would help them considering the mental and physical energy Manchester United expended against Barcelona on Thursday.

It doesn't look like it so far.

Manchester United just have better players.

What an incredible investment Casemiro has been for Manchester United. Arguably the backbone of the squad already and he's not even finished his first season.

    Luke

Casemiro is world class. What a phenomenal talent!

So, Manchester United's second goal has now been given as a Sven Botman own goal. Feels a bit harsh.

Means Rashford has now only scored 16 goals in his last 19 games. Rubbish.

  17. 'Man Utd waited for their moment'published at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    HT: Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a good start from Newcastle but credit to Manchester United as they waited for their moment to strike.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+6 mins

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

    Manchester United in complete control.

They've scored two and look like adding more.

Newcastle need to dig deep and find something very special if they are to end that long trophy drought.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 45+6 mins

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

Joelinton does not take kindly to Antony's flicks and tricks on the far side. He comes steaming in with a big swinging boot to smash the ball against the Man Utd winger and send him spinning to the turf.

Antony sees the funny side. Joelinton gets a booking.

  20. Karius savepublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    Man Utd 2-0 Newcastle

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Wembley Stadium

I am glad Loris Karius made that save.

I don't like to see anyone ridiculed in the way he has been.

He made a couple of errors in a big game. He doesn't deserve to be vilified. It is nearly five years ago now.
