    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

That is a bold move from Leicester so late in the season. Some Foxes fans will argue it has been long overdue.

This relegation battle is eating managers.

Speaking of which, it remains on the edge of mutiny at the London Stadium, with Saints frustrating everyone of a Hammers persuation.

  2. 'More sharpness from Southampton'published at 14:18 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

There's groans from around the stadium and that will feed onto the pitch for both sets of players.

Southampton players will know through that noise that they are doing something right.

There just seems to be more sharpness from Southampton at the moment, West Ham look a little leggy.

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

The West Ham fans are worries. You can hear it.

Theo Walcott flashes a shot wide of goal.

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

Stuart Armstrong sets off with the ball at his feet, mischief in mind. He reaches the Hammers box but is tackled and the threat is over.

It's another little sign of the visitors' intent, though.

  6. 'Chance slipped away'published at 14:14 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

That was well worked by Southampton.

Walker-Peters fumbled it though and then the chance slipped away.

  7. Postpublished at 14 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

There are the groans of frustration. It was always likely if the opening went this way.

Another Saints opening down the right. Theo Walcott again sends it into the keeper's arms. The locals are unhappy.

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

Almost. Southampton look to pick open West Ham. They have the ball on the edge of the box and feed it wide for Kyle Walker-Peters but his heavy touch invites a tackle from Said Benrahma and West Ham clear.

  9. Postpublished at 10 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

It's very low octane stuff at the moment.

West Ham try to change that but a low ball into the middle from the left is easy for Southampton to clear.

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

Theo Walcott is released down the right in a Saints attack. There are men darting in the middle but he can't wrap his boot around the cross enough and it is an easy gather for Lukasz Fabianski.

  11. Postpublished at 8 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

Well, that fast West Ham start hasn't yet materialised. Southampton will be pretty pleased at the way they've negotiated this opening.

  12. It's very quietpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the London Stadium

The Southampton fans just sang 'is this a library?' but even that was pretty half hearted.

    It's very quiet in here.

  13. 'Ings will have a big say'published at 14:07 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I can't help but feel Ings, the former Southampton player, will have a big say on today's game.

He's not started too well but he's known for scoring plenty at this level, so West Ham will hope to find him this afternoon.

  14. Postpublished at 7 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

A few meaty challenges leads to a rise in volume in the ground. Get into 'em!

  15. Postpublished at 6 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

Southampton are in no rush on the ball. They want to slow this down to a crawl.

  16. Postpublished at 4 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

A little glimpse of an opening for West Ham as Jarrod Bowen comes forward, but his pass inside is behind a team-mate and it allows Duje Caleta-Carr to step in and carry the ball away.

Soon after, in another attack, a Hammers cross from the left swings harmlessly out of play.

  17. 'Both managers are desperate for the three points'published at 14:03 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Whoever can settle the nerves and make the least mistakes will be the ones who walk out victorious.

I don't think either side will want a draw because both managers are desperate for the three points.

  18. Postpublished at 3 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

As for Saints, it is all about staying disciplined in these early stages. Frustrate the Hammers and turn the crowd if they can.

  19. Postpublished at 2 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

West Ham will be desperate for a fast start here. Nobody at the club expected they'd be battling at this end of the table at this stage of the season. They need to make the home games count.

  20. West Ham say farewell to Jacqueline Goldpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

The London Stadium has just had a minute's applause for Jacqueline Gold.

She was the daughter of David, West Ham's co-chairman, who sadly died in January.

His daughter passed away on 16 March.
