Leicester City caretaker manager Adam Sadler, talking to BBC Match of the Day: "It is a really disappointing result. We can't be happy with that performance. You can see a lack of confidence. My message to the players is to stick together, we're only going to get through it together.

"There was a better response in the second half and we created chances but we weren't able to get through a strong Bournemouth defence.

"The crowd, in certain spells, were excellent. We're going to need them. I can totally understand the disappointment but we have to stay together and push the lads.

"We've been trying to keep the support for the lads. It isn't about Mike or I. It has been about trying to give the lads all the confidence we could. Our attention now has to turn to next week.

"I haven't had any news. I've got nothing to say about any speculation. I am planning training next week and I'll continue to do that unless the club tell us otherwise."

I like what Southampton are trying to do out of possession, they are trying to press high. But that is the danger, Man City are so good in possession they play right through the press from Ederson up to the other end.

Manchester City are finding so much space to play in at the moment and that is concerning for Southampton. Riyad Mahrez tries to pick out Jack Grealish inside the box but the ball in is too high.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper speaking to BBC Sport: "The first goal is more than costly. Villa had the ball and territory but really Keylor [Navas] hasn't had to make a save in the whole game. The second goal is what it is because we're down to ten men with injuries today. Although we had to control the game without the ball we were comfortable. Villa didn't look a threat at all, but they're a good team. We've given the goal away and the game has changed.

"We recovered well, had quite a few attacks and a lot of set-pieces and corners we won. We tried to make changes to keep the impetus. After that we had had to go down to ten men because we picked up an injury after it. Just another disappointing day."

On if he can take positives from today: "We were fine in the game. We're away from home, our away record speaks for itself and we won't try and hide from that, I certainly won't.

"We were fine. To give that goal away and the way we gave it away, we can only blame ourselves. Even though we did respond well ten men completely stifled our rhythm and it felt like a day where a lot of things didn't go our way."

On the fans chanting to support him before the game: "That's the bit that hurts the most, that we and I are desperate to do well for the supporters and the club. It makes these moments and these mistakes and these goals even more costly and even more hurtful.

"I repeat what I've said, we can blame nobody but ourselves because of the mistakes we made."

Manchester City are in full flow with a sweeping counter, the ball worked quickly through Riyad Mahrez then Ilkay Gundogan to Jack Grealish. He tries to bend a shot into the far corner from the left but it is parried away.

James Ward-Prowse is one free kick goal away from equalling David Beckham's long-standing record of 18 and he is on set piece duty early here.

This one is a bit too far out for a shot, however, so he bends it into the box and City clear.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neill talking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a big win. We knew it was a big game. We tried to treat it like one of the last nine but there was no getting away that it was against a team near us in the league.

"There was a good calmness. I thought we were well structured. I was disappointed we had to hang onto a 1-0. We had to be more clinical. We had to dig in and show character and resilience and they managed to show that as well.

"Today was a good example of what we need for the rest of the season. We need to be calm, play and then resilient. Can we be more clinical? We had big chances against Fulham and Brighton and today was the same. There is still lots of room for improvement. There are eight huge games left. We’ll take the result and reset.

"I don’t listen to noise or expectation. My expectation is that me and the group do what we set out to achieve. We’ll work our sock offs to achieve that."

Allow him to do what he does which is score goals and get into good positions. He’s a natural finisher. A natural goalscorer.

Leicester City

"We're not here to talk about individual errors. We're a team. We've got to stay united, these things happen. There was plenty of time to do something about it. James [Maddison] is a massive player for this football club.

"We're in this situation but at this stage it is about stay together and focusing on what lies ahead.

"I can't speculate on future managers. I have been asked to prepare the team as best as we can for today and until we hear otherwise we'll just continue to prepare for training."

On a possible injury for Harvey Barnes: "I haven't spoke to the doctor just yet, but he felt his hamstring. We'll have to assess that over the next couple of days."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Cristian Stellini on whether they were lucky to win: "No, I feel we played a tough match against one of the best teams in the league in this moment. We knew what type of game we had to play but we played strong and created a lot of chances to score. We deserve it. I'm very happy for the players. We fought a lot. I am very happy because the reaction from my team is important."

On Son Heung-min's goal: "Yes it's a fabulous goal. It is the type of goal that Sonny deserves to find good confidence. I am very happy for him and the team and we celebrated in the dressing room his 100th goal in the Premier League."

On the tussle with Roberto de Zerbi: "I want to speak only about my team and the game not what happened between us and them on the bench. It was an important game and we beat them in their stadium. Probably every one of us was full of anger and tension. But everything that happened on the pitch stays there and it does now."

On both managers getting sent off: "I don't like to be involved when there is a fight or something too aggressive. I'm quiet and focused on the game. I try to do my job. It is only two games that I am a coach. I'm Cristian Stellini and I am the manager of Tottenham so I only speak of that. That is more important than anything."

Will he be friendly with De Zerbi next time? "Of course. I am a friendly person. Football is enjoyable. You have to enjoy football and when you see something like this everyone can be disappointed at home. I don't like to show something bad. From me this has never happened. I want to enjoy and fight with my team. If I have power inside me I want to use it to fight with my team."

Keeping clean sheets at home has been a problem for Southampton this season and they face a tough task keeping one today.

The Saints had six shutouts in their first nine home Premier League games in the 2020-21 campaign but since then the Saints have kept just seven in 43 league games at St Mary’s, with just one of those coming this season, the fewest of any team.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth goalscorer Philip Billing to Sky Sports: "We needed that. A massive three points. They are down there with us so there are eight games left and they are pretty much all finals for us. We need to be diligent, we could have scored four more today but we’ll take the clean sheet and the three points.

"I tried to read it [James Maddison's backpass]. We spoke before the game that they like to pass it back but the pitch helped, it was dry! The three points are massive.

"You could feel the tension on the pitch and the fans turning on Leicester.

"We believe we can stay up. We have a lot of quality. We’ve been down there the whole season but we’ve won big games and could have had even more points, we’ve thrown a few leads away. We’ve got enough. We’ve got the passion and commitment."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neill, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am relieved. It didn't need to be as close or stressful as it was. It was similar to Brighton, we should have been more clinical. We showed we could play some good stuff and we showed a different side and dug in later on because we hadn't taken our chances. It was a big clean sheet for us.

"Philip [Billing] showed some calmness. It was a big chance but he still has to finish it. He had a big impact on the game. He is a great player. He's had a really good season for us. I'll try and keep pushing him.

"It is a big win. Every win in the Premier League is big for us. We've won four recently and that is massive. They are not easy to come by. We need to keep grinding away and find a way to keep winning enough.

"First half was a really good version of us. We needed to be more clinical but they showed me today they can play decent stuff and put their bodies on the line and dig in when they need to.

"It can change so we won't get carried away. We'll enjoy today for a few hours and then think about Tottenham."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins on his goal, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think it shows that I've developed a lot, I've worked a lot on my finishing. I've worked hard for these moments. I don't think I'd do that finish at the start of the season or maybe last season, dinking the keeper. I'd maybe have tried to go low and it may get saved. I've worked a lot on a variety of finishes and I'm happy to be scoring.

On the impact Unai Emery has had: "I think telling me to be patient. We do a lot of debriefs after the game and he's very detailed. Just taking information in, working on the training pitch and being patient. I know my teammates are going to get the ball and look for me. It's about being in the right areas and doing my bit, which is about trying to score"

On Villa struggling in the first half: "It was frustrating. At times, [especially] the final ball, all of us were a little bit off it today. It was just little moments, it was about the composure in front of goal to pick a final pass or pass it in the goal. They're key moments so I'm happy I did that today. We got a massive three points in a big week."

Aston Villa

More from Ollie Watkins to Sky Sports, on the confidence in the side: "The manager gives us confidence every game. He mentions that we've got to respect each team, it's the Premier League and isn't going to be easy, and fight for three points in every game. We'll continue to do that until the end of the season. There's a lot of good teams we've got to play. We're up for the challenge and it's going to be really exciting in these last eight games.

On Aston Villa keeping a clean sheet: "We're defending from the front, the midfielders are well-drilled, credit to the defenders because they're always having to sprint back. It's a solid team performance and I'm happy that Emi [Martinez] has got his clean sheet."

Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a very tough game. It was very physical, as we knew it would be. We suffered in the first half. But second half, what a response from a group of players that have played three games in six days. They were asked to dig really deep for the result but responded really well.

"I have only seen one replay [of the penalty]. I thought it was harsh. I thought the handball on Callum was also harsh, but that is just my opinion.

"We changed things tactically [in the second half]. Sometimes that can give you a lift in itself. We knew we were desperate for the result and threw caution to the wind a little bit. The players responded well physically, even though we were a little bit fatigued from the week we have had. That is down to the characters we have.

"I think they [Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak] can play together in the right circumstances for the team. We don't want to force it and the team suffers, we want it to be to the benefit of the team. Today was the right time and they caused them no end of problems.

"From my side, there was 30 seconds left and he [Anthony Gordon] was down holding his ankle so I put an experienced player on the pitch. It is no reflection on his time on the pitch [to take him off]."
