Ben Whiteman Daniel Johnson and Alan Browne have been excellent for Preston today.

That midfield three has made the difference overall.

The psychology has changed a bit for Luton. Because they have they lead, they're prepared to sit a bit deeper, protect what they've got and break.

    Preston 3-0 Blackpool

So close to a Blackpool response.

James Husband whips in a ball straight to the head of Morgan Rogers but he heads just wide of the mark.

    That should have gone in.

    Preston 3-0 Blackpool

Bit of a sobering trip for Blackpool's supporters.

3-0 down soon after half-time, any sort of comeback looks unlikely, seven goals conceded in two games and four points adrift of safety with Cardiff and Rotherham both with two games in hand.

Another half an hour to go.

  5. goal

    Andy Smith (44 mins)

The Mariners have turned it around!

Grimsby defender Andy Smith bundles home after a corner and the away side have the lead.

    Luton 1-0 Watford

This feels like a key period, not much in the way of action in either final third until Watford's Imran Louza fires in a low drive from just outside the box which Ethan Horvath is able to flop to his left to gather.

First time he's hit the turf, by my reckoning.

    Preston 3-0 Blackpool

Ian Poveda cuts the ball into the Preston box and finds an unmarked Josh Bowler who races in.

But his low drive sails straight into Preston keeper Freddie Woodman's hands.

    Luton 1-0 Watford

    Derek Payne
Former Watford midfielder on BBC Three Counties Radio

That's better from Watford, they moved the ball quicker and got forward quicker.

You can see words have been said at half-time, they are playing with more intensity.

  9. CLOSE!published at 13:41 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Luton 1-0 Watford

Watford have started on the front foot. Ken Sema's cross is met by Jeremy Ngakia but his looping header drifts wide of the far post. Positive stuff from the visitors, who are attacking their own fans in this second half.

I said they would be vulnerable on the counter and that's exactly what's happened.

Preston have got the pace and Cannon almost hits it in slow motion, he takes forever but it's a great finish from him.

Unless there's a miracle, you would say that's game over.

  11. goal

GOAL: Preston 3-0 Blackpoolpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Tom Cannon (51 mins)

    Surely game over now.

Preston break on the counter after Blackpool's positive start and work the ball to Tom Cannon.

He stumbles into the box and more or less passes the ball into the net.

It's going to be a long second half for Blackpool.

    Preston 2-0 Blackpool

Blackpool have started well in this second half and have dominated the possession.

They even force Preston keeper Freddie Woodman into an early error as he plays a wayward kick into the visitors' path but they can't quite turn it into a shot on goal.

  13. SECOND HALFpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Luton 1-0 Watford

We're also back underway at Kenilworth Road.

What a huge 45 minutes for Luton's promotion hopes, and Watford's play-off hopes too, of course!

  14. SECOND HALFpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Preston 2-0 Blackpool

    Back under way at Deepdale.

Blackpool make three changes for the second half with Kenny Dougall, Keshi Anderson and CJ Hamilton coming off.

Josh Bowler, Ian Poveda and Charlie Patino come on.

    Preston are unchanged.

Watford are carrying too many players. Luton look like a team, while Watford look like individuals.

I think Chris Wilder has picked the wrong team - they are losing it in midfield.

Luton will be the happier team. Even after going 1-0 up they have dominated and Watford are very frustrated.

It's looked like Luton want it a bit more. They are running through brick walls and look like they want the points more than Watford do.

  18. goal

GOAL: Bradford 1-1 Grimsbypublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Gavan Holohan (penalty) (23 mins)

No mistake from the spot and it's all-square in this League Two game.

Harry Clifton wins a penalty for the away side after being upended by Bantams goalkeeper Harry Lewis.

Gavan Holohan smashes home from the spot.

Bradford now on course for a fifth straight draw, long way to go though of course.

  19. Black Cats hold champions-elect to stalematepublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Sunderland

Burnley and SunderlandImage source, Rex Features

The Championship action for the weekend got under way on Friday night when runaway league leaders Burnley were held to a goalless draw by Sunderland.

The Clarets are the only team in the entire EFL with an unbeaten home record but they were unable to claim a 25th league win of the season against an impressive showing from the Black Cats.

Tony Mowbray's men, whose play-off hopes are all-but over, hit the bar through Amad Diallo and saw Abdoullah Ba's effort ruled out for an offside.

Vincent Kompany's men, who visit third-placed Middlesbrough on Friday before hosting second-placed Sheffield United on Easter Monday, need eight points from their final eight matches to secure promotion.

    HT: Preston 2-0 Blackpool

    Brett Ormerod
Former Blackpool striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

Once that first goal went in, Preston have played as well as they have all season at home.

They've been on the front foot and dictated midfield. They've just been quicker to the ball.

Blackpool have looked dangerous on the ball and have had good one-twos around the box which is positive. If Blackpool score it's game on, but if Preston get a third it's game over.
