That is it from us after a breathless evening of EFL action.

Burnley thought they'd won the Championship title, but have been made to wait, while it's as you were at the top of League One following several twists in the games involving the top three.

Leyton Orient have sealed a return to League One after an eight-year absence despite losing at Gillingham with 10 men.

Rochdale, meanwhile, are on the brink of falling out of the EFL and Wrexham moved a step closer to promotion from the National League.

We'll be back tomorrow night with more action from the Championship, with big games in both the play-off race and the relegation battle.

    FT: Gillingham 2-0 Leyton Orient

It is a second promotion for Orient in less than six years since Nigel Travis took over as owner and marks a first return to League One since they were relegated in 2015 in the first season under the previous ownership of Italian businessman Francesco Becchetti.

Having dropped into non-league two years later, lifelong fan Travis took over the club and helped fund a side managed by the late Justin Edinburgh, which won the 2019 National League title.

The O's have been mid-table since their return to the EFL, but this season under Richie Wellens they have soared, with the club seven points clear of second-placed Northampton Town with four games left.

The title looks as though it will follow this promotion back to Brisbane Road.

  5. Yeovil relegated to National League Southpublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    FT: Wrexham 3-0 Yeovil

It is almost a decade since Yeovil beat Brentford 2-1 at Wembley to secure a historic promotion to the Championship for the first time.

Ten years on, Brentford are enjoying their second campaign playing in the Premier League and are admired for the way they have grown into one of English football's most stable top clubs.

Yeovil, by contrast, survived one season in the second tier before their plummet back down the divisions began.

Defeat by Wrexham means that next season they will be playing in National League South, the sixth tier of the footballing pyramid.

'How did it get to this point?', is a question most Yeovil fans will be asking.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 22:00 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Lions keeper George Long comes up for a 97th-minute corner but the visitors see out the danger.

Millwall remain in fifth place but defeat against Birmingham means the Lions have one win in their past six outings.

They've failed to score in five of those games. But their next two games are against the bottom two.

With the rest of the play-off chasing pack in action tomorrow, their two point cushion to seventh place could be wiped out.

A first win in four for the Blues means John Eustace's side are pretty much assured of a place in the Championship next season.

  7. National League update - Yeovil relegatedpublished at 22:00 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    #bbcefl

The dream of winning at Wrexham and keeping their faint survival hopes alive was alive for Yeovil until the 60th minute.

As it is, three goals in 18 minutes have condemned them to relegation. The Dragons move four points clear in the sole promotion spot with two games to play, while Town - who were in the Championship 10 years ago - go down.

  8. League Two update - bizarre spectacle for Orientpublished at 21:59 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    #bbcefl

The players are exchanging passes without a great deal of obvious intent at Gillingham, where the clock is ticking down to allow Leyton Orient to fully enjoy that promotion party.

This is one of the strangest scenes you'll ever see at a promotion-deciding game, but that's what a 12-minute delay for a power cut does for you.

  9. Postpublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Five additional minutes at The Den.

Millwall have drawn a blank in four of their past five games, and look set to be failing to find the net again tonight.

  10. Postpublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Birmingham almost wrap up the points with two minutes left as substitute and top scorer Scott Hogan bursts clear.

However, George Long comes off his line and the Millwall keeper does well to deny the Blues striker.

The Lions still have hope of a point.

  11. LEYTON ORIENT PROMOTED TO LEAGUE ONEpublished at 21:51 British Summer Time 18 April 2023
    Breaking

    #bbcefl

Leyton Orient are celebrating on the pitch even though their game hasn't finished - the news has filtered through that they've been promoted because Bradford have lost at Swindon.

What a strange way to go up. Not that they'll care!

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:47 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Into the final 10 minutes at The Den and Millwall have come as close to a goal as they have all evening.

Neil Etheridge doesn't gather a shot from Callum Styles but the Blues keeper recovers to get his body behind Tom Bradshaw's effort on the follow-up.

Gillingham and League Two leaders Orient are back out for the final 12 minutes plus stoppages after that power cut in Kent.

Orient are losing but could be promoted before full-time regardless...

  14. League One full-time headlines - Plymouth pinch itpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    #bbcefl

What a moment for Plymouth at Shrewsbury, where Callum Smith 96th-minute goal from a cross has kept Argyle top with a last-gasp 2-1 win.

You wouldn't have expected it long into the second half, but all three at the top have won tonight: Nathan Broadhead scored twice in the second half to turn the scoreline around and give Ipswich a 2-1 victory at home to Port Vale. Town are a point behind Plymouth.

Third-placed Sheffield Wednesday, who are a point further off the top, had a relatively routine night, going 2-0 ahead at Bristol Rovers before surviving a scare when Aaron Collins scored right after the break.

At the bottom, Cambridge lost to Wycombe and Accrington lost to Peterborough, so both sides remain in the relegation zone.

Posh remain fifth, while fourth-placed Barnsley's goalless draw at Lincoln means they are guaranteed a play-off place.

Derby won 2-0 at Exeter through David McGoldrick's goals, so they're level on points with sixth-placed Bolton, who have a game in hand and a superior goal difference after being held 1-1 at Burton.

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Blackpool 0-2 West Brom

West Brom make it back-to-back wins to move into the top six.

Goals either side of half-time from Brandon Thomas-Asante and Taylor Gardner-Hickman give the Baggies the points.

A fifth defeat in six outings leaves Blackpool four points from safety.

That gap could increase tomorrow, with the three sides immediately above them all in action.

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Rotherham 2-2 Burnley

Rotherham show tremendous character to twice fight back against the promoted champions-elect.

Manuel Benson looked to have won it for Vincent Kompany's men but Georgie Kelly slid in a late leveller.

The Clarets must wait a little longer to confirm their league title., while the Millers are four points above the bottom three.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Stoke 0-1 Wigan

Wigan end a run of three straight defeats to keep their survival bid alive.

The Latics are now five points from safety, but it's effectively six as they have the worst goal difference in the division.

But Will Keane's first half strike has given Shaun Maloney's men and Wigan fans some hope of staying up.

  18. League Two update - Rochdale rescue a pointpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    #bbcefl

Scenes at Rochdale: Ethan Ebanks-Landell turns in a corner at the far post in the 93rd minute to make it 2-2 at home to Tranmere.

The hero grabs the ball and runs back to the halfway line but there isn't enough time for one last push.

It's looking likely they'll be eight points shy of safety with three games remaining. Unlikely - but credit for the comeback tonight.

They made hard work of it but they're now eight points clear of third-placed Luton.

Their attention will now turn to Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Millwall ring the changes as they look for an equaliser with 15 minutes to go.

Duncan Watmore and Callum Styles come on for Andreas Voglsammer and George Saville.

The Lions have been on top since the restart but can't get that elusive goal.
