Seasiders unlucky to be behind. Not a lot wrong with that first half. Just a sloppy goal conceded and some close calls in front of goal themselves. Still in this. Next goal huge.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Birmingham are upsetting Millwall's apple cart as things stand following a fine finish by Lukas Jutkiewicz.

With one goal in five and a half games, the Lions need to find a cutting edge up front to get their play-off challenge back on track...

They have done little to really threaten the visitors' goal in the first half.

  3. Second halfpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

We're back under way in the 19:45 BST games.

A season-defining 45 minutes coming up for some teams.

Sheffield Wednesday are top of the live table, leapfrogging Plymouth and Ipswich by scoring both of the goals so far at Bristol Rovers.

Ipswich are behind to managerless Port Vale, who have taken a shock lead through Mal Benning.

Barnsley's game at Lincoln is goalless - the Tykes can guarantee themselves a play-off place tonight with a draw.

Peterborough are also leading 2-0 at second-bottom Accrington, strengthening their play-off prospects because their main rivals for the final place in the top six at the moment, Derby, are being held 0-0 at Exeter.

It's a similar story at Cambridge, where the hosts' relegation worries have been compounded by play-off hopefuls Wycombe scoring twice without reply in the first half.

Portsmouth took the lead at Oxford through Marlon Pack to breathe life into their hopes of threatening the top six, but United are on course to stay outside of the relegation zone thanks to Sam Long's leveller.

  5. CLOSE!published at 20:45 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Chance for the Lions and, unsurprisingly, it comes from a set piece.

Birmingham rather bafflingly leave Jake Cooper unmarked at the back stick for a corner and the giant centre-back meets Scott Malone's delivery from the left with a powerful header.

The ball bounces down and inches wide of the upright.

A real let-off for the Blues before the break.

Birmigham keeper John Ruddy picks up an injuryImage source, PA Media

Goalkeeper and captain John Ruddy has actually picked up an injury and is now forced off for Birmingham.

He rushed out of his goal to clear in front of Oliver Burke and looks like he has pulled a muscle.

Neil Etheridge is an experienced back-up and comes on between the sticks for Blues with seven minutes to go to half-time.

Let's take a little look outside the EFL and the battle to get into it next season.

    • Yeovil must win at leaders Wrexham to avoid relegation tonight, but the game is currently goalless.
    • Barnet are set to bag a play-off place: they're heading for the win they need at home to Solihull Moors courtesy of Harry Smith's header.
    • Chesterfield are set to go five points clear in third - which would guarantee them one fewer game in the play-offs if they end the season there - because they're 3-0 up at home to Torquay.
  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Blackpool 0-1 West Brom

Brandon Thomas-Asante's strike separates the sides after the first 45 minutes.

If West Brom can hold on to all three points they'll finish the night in the play-offs.

Defeat would push Blackpool closer to a place in League One next season.

  9. Postpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Millwall 0-1 Birmingham

Millwall forward Zian Flemming powers a long-range free-kick towards goal.

It's straight at the keeper and possibly heading over, but John Ruddy helps tip it over the Blues bar anyway.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Sunderland 1-0 Huddersfield

Joe Gelhardt's goal is the difference between the two teams at the break.

Sunderland are in the top six as it stands, while Huddersfield are just one point above the bottom three.

    Rotherham 1-1 Burnley

Scott Twine's goal looked to have the Clarets on the way to confirming the title but Vitinho's own goal just before the break means we go in level in South Yorkshire.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Wigan

Goalless at the break in the Potteries.

Josh Magennis came close to opening the scoring for the visitors just before the break, but he couldn't quite prod in James McClean's centre.

A point won't do much for Wigan's hopes of survival.

  13. League One updatepublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    #bbcefl

    • Ryan Tafazolli and David Wheeler have given Wycombe a 2-0 lead to boost their play-off hopes at fourth-bottom Cambridge, who are on course to still be in the relegation zone by the end of tonight.
    • Sam Long has levelled for Oxford at home to Portsmouth, which has put United a point above Cambridge in the live table.
    • Peterborough have a second at second-bottom Accrington through Ephron Mason-Clark.
    • With Derby's game at Exeter yet to produce a goal, Posh could be three points clear of the Rams with a superior goal difference in the final play-off place come full-time.
  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Bristol City

    No goals at the break.

A win would move the home side closer to promotion to the Premier League but it is the mid-table away side who have had the better of it.

  15. Postpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Blackpool 0-1 West Brom

Morgan Rogers gets another sight of goal for Blackpool, but Baggies keeper Alex Palmer denies him with a fine save.

The hosts have not been clinical enough tonight.

Into seven minutes of added time after a couple of first-half injuries...

    WELL!

    Did not see this coming.

Shane Ferguson's corner gets a flick towards goal and Vitinho bundles it into his own net.

    All-square.

Burnley are not going to be winning the title tonight, as it stands.

Lukas Jutkiewicz has taken the ball around the keeper and given Birmingham the lead.

They also had a big penalty appeal turned down so they will be pleased they've taken the lead.

GOAL: Millwall 0-1 Birminghampublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Lukas Jutkiewicz (28 mins)

Birmingham look to be upsetting Millwall's play-off bid.

The big man Lukas Jutkiewicz gives the Blues the lead with his fifth Championship goal of the season.

Reda Khadra bursts in from the left flank and drives towards the Millwall defence.

He feeds it into Jutkiewicz, who touches the ball past George Long before finishing from a very narrow angle with his left foot.

Long got back to his line but couldn't keep it out.

What response have the Lions got?

  19. League Two update - Cobblers set for secondpublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    #bbcefl

Northampton are on course to go second after Louis Appere hammered them ahead at Sutton following a classic long throw-in routine.

The clash between play-off chasers Carlisle and Stockport is going the visitors' way, Myles Hippolyte scoring the first goal of the game after 31 minutes. County will be two points off the top three if results continue as they are, while United will be sixth.

Hiram Boateng has given Mansfield the lead at Newport. The Stags really need to win to stay level on points with Salford in the final play-off position, because Louie Barry has put City 2-0 up at second-bottom Hartlepool.

Leyton Orient are down to 10 men and remain a goal behind at Gillingham, but they're still on course to go up tonight.

    Sunderland 1-0 Huddersfield

Oooft, Huddersfield can ill-afford to fall 2-0 down here and they really should be!

The ball drops to the talented Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo just in front of goal but he somehow sends it over the crossbar.

A huge let-off for the strugglers.

Can they make the most of it?
