Sheffield Wednesday have moved top of the league above Plymouth and Ipswich in the live table, a typically classy Barry Bannan strike giving the Owls the lead at Bristol Rovers.

Barnsley have dominated possession at Lincoln, where they need a point to guarantee a play-off place and neither side has had a shot on target.

Fifth-placed Bolton are on course to move four points inside the play-off places because they lead at Burton through Victor Adeboyejo's early goal.

Marlon Pack's superb free-kick has put Portsmouth, who have a faint chance of reaching the play-offs, ahead at struggling Oxford. The Yellows are without a win since January.

Second-bottom Accrington's survival hopes have been dealt a blow by sixth-placed Peterborough's opener through Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Big goal at both ends of the table!

Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt gives the promotion-chasing home side the lead with a crisp strike after good play from Amad Diallo.

As it stands, the Black Cats are in the top six.

Relegation-threatened Huddersfield are just one point above the bottom three.

    Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Rotherham are hanging on against the champions-elect tonight.

Lee Peltier does really well to slide in and stop goalscorer Scott Twine bagging his and his side's second.

BIG save from Terriers goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik.

    Milllwall 0-0 Birmingham

The visitors have claims of a penalty turned down at The Den.

Tahith Chong looks like he's got the better of Jake Cooper as he outpaces the centre-back and gets into the area.

The Blues midfielder goes down... but referee Dean Whitestone waves away the claims.

Absolute disaster from Richard O’Donnell. He miss-controls a back pass and it’s ended up in the back of the net.

One of their most experienced players has done something inexplicable. Rochdale have shot themselves in the foot, after starting brightly too, unbelievable.

    Richard O'Donnell, own goal

Rochdale concede a howler of an own goal from keeper Rochard O'Donnell to go behind after 19 minutes on what could be a crucial night for their run of more than a century as an EFL side.

League Two's bottom club are just about on course to stay up tonight despite falling behind because neither Hartlepool nor Crawley are winning.

Omar Beckles of Leyton Orient has been sent off for foul play and having seen it back I'm not so sure.

There was a coming together between him and a Gillingham player on the edge of the box, he was the last man but I'm not sure there was enough there to say it was an actual foul.

But from the resulting free-kick Gillingham scored. The Leyton Orient players were not happy. It looked soft.

Lyle Foster forces a decent stop from Josh Vickers in the home goal and Vitinho sends the rebound over the bar.

  15. League Two update - O's behind as they eye promotionpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Leaders Leyton Orient have had a nightmare start. Omar Beckles has been sent off for bringing down George Lapslie, and Alexander MacDonald scored Gillingham’s 16th-minute opener from the resulting free-kick.

The O's could still go up tonight - but if they lose, they’ll be relying on both Northampton and Bradford not to win.

Stevenage have scored the opening goal against visitors Doncaster through Jordan Roberts. Boro can guarantee a play-off place if they win and Salford lose, but City are ahead at home to second-bottom Hartlepool through Matt Smith.

Sam Folarin has put Harrogate ahead at home to Walsall - victory, as it stands, would move Town six points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand and a significantly superior goal difference.

West Brom grab the first goal in the Championship this evening, and it could have a big impact at both ends of the table.

A corner comes in from the right and Conor Townsend manages to divert it goalwards from the back post.

Brandon Thomas-Asante is quickest to react and flocks it in from inside the six yard box for his seventh league goal of the campaign.

Hold on and the Baggies will be in the play-offs, while Blackpool will be deeper in danger of relegation.

Bristol City haven't got anything to play for but pride this season but you would not know it from their start in this!

A case of the jitters for the Blades as they look to edge closer to promotion maybe?

They're opened up down their left and a Sam Bell header eventually deflects behind for a corner to the away side.

Under way in the late kick-off in the Championship.

Play-off hopefuls Millwall could be six points clear of seventh place tonight if they win and other results go in their favour.

Scott Malone starts in place of the injured Murray Wallace in the only change for the Lions, while George Friend and Jobe Bellingham - who is making just his second league start - come into the Blues XI.

Can Birmingham knock the Lions out of their stride?
