The Bayern Munich goalkeeper takes a heavy touch and Erling Haaland immediately senses an opportunity, swiftly closing down the goalkeeper whose panicked clearance hits the Manchester City striker but goes flying across the face of goal.

Could have easily gone in, a let off for Bayern.

Pretty woeful shot high and wide from distance from Benfica's Florentino. The Portuguese side are playing better now.

George: City have to win this by at least two goals margin. Otherwise it will be difficult to beat Bayern in the second leg.

Bayern Munich have their first attempt on goal as Alphonso Davies has a bit of space ahead of him after some neat one-touch passing by the visitors on the edge of the area, but the full-back sweeps his shot well wide.

They seem to just look for Kimmich to keep things steady, and he'll keep it moving, stay in the middle of the park and dictate things.

Mateo Darmian disagrees with the referee's decision to give Inter a corner after he'd defended well against the pace of Rafa Silva. Chiquinho's corner is headed away by Denzel Dumfries anyway.

Bernardo Silva makes a great run and is almost through on goal before a last-ditch sweeping tackle by Joshua Kimmich. Silva thinks he is fouled but the referee waves play on.

He does that really well, Stones. If City give the ball away he drops into that right back slot to make a four again. I think that's why he's playing that role there. He's very intelligent and knows when to go and when to stay.

Excellent bit of skill by Bernardo Silva as he flicks the ball and is away down the right flank. Alphonso Davies uses his pace to get back and stop Silva getting a cross in. Silva plays it back to Kevin de Bruyne, whose whipped effort finds Ilkay Gundogan but he can't get direction on his header.

Good start from Inter. Nicolo Barella wins the ball off a red player and whips in a cross which is just over the head of Edin Dzeko.

Inter work a corner back to Marcelo Brozovic, who hooks a cross over everyone and out of play.

Plenty of whistles from the Benfica fans who aren't enjoying a long spell of Inter possession.

The Italian side win a corner.

Erling Haaland has five goals in seven games against Bayern Munich and he gets the first chance to add goal number six as he is picked out by Kevin de Bruyne and surges into the area but lashes his shot well over from a tight angle.

It is chucking it down while a strong wind is swirling around the Etihad. Difficult conditions to try and keep the ball on the ground and play football.

Not a load to report from the early stages in Lisbon. Inter have played a couple of balls up to Edin Dzeko, preferred to Romelu Lukaku today, but he has been unable to find a team-mate.

Now it is Bayern's turn to attack with Kingsley Coman up against Nathan Ake. The City man defends really well to take the sting out of the cross and then Ruben Dias clears.
