A couple of minutes to go until half time and if Manchester City can get to the break without conceding then it is really hard to see Bayern scoring three in the second half.

Over in Italy, the first half has flown by. Inter looked to be cruising into the semis but Benfica have their tails up with half-time looming. Inter need to get to the interval without conceding another. This tie is still alive.

Bayern Munich try to take advantage of that opportunity presented to them by Erling Haaland's missed penalty as they go immediately on the attack, but Joshua Kimmich fires well over.

Ederson then coolly rolls the ball away from an onrushing Bayern player inside his own box. Incredible calmness in the circumstances.

What a game of football this is.

The tie would have been dead, it would have been over, but it has just bred life into this Bayern Munich team.

It's incredible what a goal can do. Five minutes left in the first half and Benfica are swarming all over Inter. Another goal for the visitors will make things extremely interesting.

Erling Haaland has missed!

There's a delay in taking the spot kick as something is moved from the penalty area but when Haaland finally takes the spot kick he smashes over the bar.

Dayot Upamecano is penalised for appearing to handle the ball from a shot and Manchester City have a penalty!

What a chance here for Pep Guardiola's side...

A good spell of possession for Manchester City, who seem to have gained more control in midfield now. Bayern, though, have the quality to pounce on any mistake and a Rodri error presents an attacking opportunity for the hosts but the attack falls apart in the final third.

The ball is in the back of the Benfica net after Lautaro Martinez gets on the end of Edin Dzeko's cross but it's not going to count. There was a foul by Martinez.

Jamal Musiala is nudged by Rodri about 25 yards from goal and the Bayern youngster wants a free kick, but referee Clement Turpin isn't interested. Bayern win a corner soon after but Eric Choupo-Moting flicks a header over the bar.

Cancelo is having a really tough night against his former team-mate. Bernardo Silva has nutmegged him three times already.

The speed and the low centre of gravity must be so hard to defend against.

Despite a strong start by Bayern so far, a goal for Manchester City would really put it beyond them and the visitors are on the attack as the ball is worked to Nathan Ake on the left side of the box but he drills a low effort just wide of the far post.

Joao Mario is fouled outside Inter's box within scoring range and Alejandro Grimaldo sends it over the wall but Andre Onana is down to make a smart save. That's Benfica's first serious attempt on target with half an hour on the clock.

Another attack for Bayern Munich with Kingsley Coman involved again - he is dominating that right flank - but this time Leon Goretzka smashes well over after the ball is worked to him inside the area.

Sane's started the game really well, he should have a goal already.

Manchester City seem to have a bit of an issue down the left with Ake getting caught against Coman. He needs to get Grealish back in to help.

Nathan Ake is really struggling with Kingsley Coman and concedes a free kick on the right. Leroy Sane goes for goal with a stinging effort but Ederson punches it away.
