It always looked relatively comfortable, overall it was a decent performance, one to build on and one that certainly builds confidence, particularly for the like of Dan James and Harry Wilson.

Important for them, important for Kieffer Moore to get another goal, that will be big for him, he looked a threat all night. The front three did themselves very proud this evening.

Good performance today, can be better but the boys are building confidence and life without Gareth Bale isn't looking too bad at the moment.

Job done for Wales.

It was not always pretty, but Kieffer Moore's goal is enough for victory in south Wales.

Wales deserved it on the evening, though Latvia did have their moments.

Moore's first-half header has got the job done for Rob Page's side though, who have the four points they dearly wanted from their opening two qualification matches.

Croatia have beaten Turkey 2-0 in the group's other game, but due to Wales' goal away in Split they top the table after two matches.

Latvia thought they had a last-minute corner, but the linesman instead points for a goal kick - much to the delight of the home crowd.

Another change for Wales as Harry Wilson departs for another Swansea City player in Ben Cabango.

Thankfully for those in red the ball eventually finds its way through to Danny Ward who clutches it gratefully.

Latvia are into the Wales half and are lining up a long throw from the exact same position Wales scored from against Croatia.

Just saying.

Swansea City's Ollie Cooper is on for his Wales debut with a couple minutes to go.

He will be back at this ground for the south Wales derby on the weekend.

Off goes captain Aaron Ramsey, who hands the armband to Ethan Ampadu.

Ethan Ampadu has a slight knock but will continue.

This is a really key time for Wales, they need to hold their own, nothing silly, make sure they are marking up properly and competing for that first contact.

Two minutes to go in Cardiff.

The Latvian fans have not stopped chanting all evening, and they are sensing there may be a late twist in this match.

This time Wales get to the cross first, and although the ball eventually falls to Vladislavs Gutkovskis his effort is never troubling Danny Ward.

Latvia have a corner on the right, they looked dangerous from set pieces in the first half.

The visitors are still searching for a dramatic late equaliser.

Wales are sitting as deep as they have at any point this evening as crosses start descending on the Welsh area.

Was that the chance Latvia were waiting for?

Joe Morrell suffers the commentators curse as he gives away possession cheaply in the Wales half.

Substitute Renars Varslavans has all the time in the world on the edge of the area, but picks the wrong option as he fires well over the bar.

Wales are still dominating possession, but as they proved on Saturday in Croatia anything can happen.

I've never seen a left back have so many attempts from the same part of the pitch.

Not to jinx anything, but Latvia only lost one away game during their 2022 World Cup qualification campaign.

And that was against the Netherlands.
