Latvia's towering striker Vladislavs Gutkovskis takes a tumble on half-way under close attention from Chris Mepham.

There was not a lot in it but he has won the visitors a free-kick.

Wales will be pleased with the opening 10 minutes, only the one real chance of note but Latvia have hardly had a touch of the ball so far.

It is important that Wales dictate the tempo, don't slow it down to the pace that Latvia want.

Wales are in again, this time Kieffer Moore sprinting into the Latvia box, but the linesman eventually raises his flag after the striker's cross is turned away.

Both teams are playing the same system of back four, two holding, three across and then one up front, it is going to be extremely difficult to break them down.

Wales have really got to figure it out.

That is exactly what we need from Dan James, going on the outside, trust your left foot, it is good enough to cause problems.

The Latvian fans to my right are making a great noise considering the small section of the crowd they occupy.

They are going to enjoy this occasion.

Wales should probably be ahead!

Dan James has seen a lot of the ball in the early stages, and he uses his pace to get behind the Latvian defence and cross for the late-arriving Harry Wilson.

Wilson keeps his effort on target, but Pavels Steinbors turns it behind for a corner.

Unlike on Saturday in Croatia, Wales will see a lot more possession this evening against Latvia.

The visitors are holding their shape well in the early stages as Wales pass around midfield.

It's going to be a difficult night, as difficult as Wales make it.

A dangerous early ball from Harry Wilson is swung the way of Kieffer Moore, but Latvia do well to clear the danger before winning a free-kick.

It's never easy to say goodbye to someone you love.

Wales fans have just been given that chance, with Gareth Bale signing off with some nice words about the honour of playing for Wales:

"What an honour is has been to represent this country and play in front of the best fans in the world," said Bale.

"You supported me and my family and all the team through the lows of the lows and the high of the highs. I can’t thank you enough and it’s been the biggest pleasure of playing in front of you my whole career.

"I will miss playing in front of you but make sure you keep supporting the boys. You, the fans, are Welsh football.

"You make it so special and what it is today and I will be cheering on like you lot. Hopefully I will see you soon in the future. Thank you.”

It's no exaggeration to say we may never see a player like him again in a Wales shirt.

Thanks for the memories, oh so many memories.
