The noise is cacophonous here at Bramall Lane.

The silky Iliman Ndiaye wins a free-kick 35 yards out from the West Brom goal.

Then a wonderful dragback moments later illuminates stoppage time.

Just seconds to go until Bramall Lane erupts now.

These subs mean that six of the 16 players who have played for Sheffield United tonight were also part of the Blades squad who won Premier League promotion in 2019.

Incredible continuity for a team in modern football.

How many of them will still be here next season remains to be seen but nobody will be thinking about that tonight.

More invitations to the promotion party are handed out by Paul Heckingbottom.

The Blades boss brings on Jayden Bogle and Chris Basham for George Baldock and goalscorer Sander Berge.

All the Bs there. And the place is buzzing.

Jovan Malcolm replaces Jed Wallace for Albion.

Injury delay as Max Lowe is caught on the leg by a sliding tackle from Taylor Gardner-Hickman.

That one will have smarted. Not even a free-kick given though, although perhaps the ref played advantage.

    Sheff Utd 2-0 West Brom

West Brom are getting desperate now, launching balls into the box with no real plan, just hope.

Brandon Thomas-Asante wins one but his weak header barely reaches Wes Foderingham in the Blades' goal.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 84 mins

    Sheff Utd 2-0 West Brom

John Egan is cautioned for a pretty blatant tug on John Swift as the West Brom midfielder tries to lead a swift counter.

It's like a game of headers and volleys now. They're trying to tee up Billy Sharp to add the gloss.

It's been inevitable for some time, really, but Sheffield United will be glad of getting the job done with three games to spare.

I mean there's still a few minutes left here but West Brom have offered so little going forward in this second half, it's difficult to see them working a late miracle.

Indeed, the Blades sniff a third goal but a nice passing move sees John Fleck's final ball to Sander Berge just overhit.

Albion try to muster a retort as Taylor Gardner-Hickman's low 20-yarder is well struck but Wes Foderingham deals with it comfortably enough.

At the other end, Billy Sharp almost has a tap-in as Alex Palmer can only palm a cross down at his feet but a defender intervenes to hack it clear.

That's the sound of a lot of bottles of champagne (and various other drinks) being popped across one half of Sheffield.

It was a wonderfully controlled close range finish from centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic.

The only player the Blades paid a fee for last summer has been excellent all season.

"We are going up, we are going up," chant the Blades fans, and surely they're right.

George Baldock lets rip with a first-time volley from the edge of the box as a corner is half cleared.

It's going miles wide but Anel Ahmedhodzic instinctively sticks out a foot to divert it into the net from around six yards. Stunning finish and brilliant improvisation.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 74 mins

    Sheff Utd 1-0 West Brom

Getting to that stage of the game where killing time isn't a bad idea.

Double change for the Blades with Billy Sharp and John Fleck on for James McAtee and Oli McBurnie.

As you would expect with a one-goal lead the departing players, er, savour the atmosphere as they trot off.

Another Blades corner and another brilliant Tommy Doyle delivery that goes unrewarded.

The hosts are pushing for that killer second goal, it's all Sheffield United.

    Goals change games.

It's like Sheffield United are running downhill now and Albion are just hanging on for dear life.

Baggies boss Carlos Corberan is hoping some substitutions can turn the tide.
