This is one is ticking. Plenty of action on the pitch and in the technical areas. Newcastle are aggrieved by what they regard as Arsenal's time wasting but Eddie Howe's side have been adept at slowing things down themselves this season when it suits them.

Arsenal have failed to take some very big chances. How important might Newcastle keeper Nick Pope's save the outstanding Martin Odegaard in the last action of a frenetic half prove to be?

Craig: You have to wonder how much Arsenal will regret not taking those chances away from home. If Newcastle get the next one it is very likely they will go onto winning this game. Great game so far.

Stephen: 45 minutes of highlights that first half was, there'll be nothing on the MOTD cutting room floor.

You can always tell when a game has delivered in the first half because the ground has that murmur at the break. One that speaks to fans turning to those they're with to exhale and wax lyrical about what they've just seen.

Tom: It's great to see Newcastle players and fans getting riled by the exact same gamesmanship that they've used all throughout the season. Spicy second half coming up.

Dave: Newcastle fans moaning about "gamesmanship" after watching the reverse fixture at the Emirates is laughable, think it was only in play for about 20 minutes that day!

It’s been brilliant.

Tempers are flaring down the tunnel. Words exchanged between both sets of players.

What a half of football. Woodwork has been hit, an awarded penalty has been overturned, Arsenal were under the cosh and then scored and there could easily have been another five or six goals. And just to add some icing, the two teams are getting angry with each other.

Go dust yourself off. We go again in 15.

What a save!

Dan Burn is down and out in the box as Arsenal set up Martin Odegaard in the middle. The Norwegian has just Nick Pope to beat, but the Newcastle keeper channels his inner Peter Schmeichel with a big star jump and a block with his right boot.

Could be a huge moment in this contest!

This could boil over.

The players are squaring up the far side after another little coming together. Callum Wilson and Granit Xhaka are in the thick of it again.

Gabriel Jesus and Kieran Trippier are at it too.

It all adds to what is going to be a tasty second half.

More spice!

Granit Xhaka goes down near his own box, drawing incredulous reactions from the Newcastle fans and some players.

Callum Wilson tries to get him to his feet but he's having none of it.

Don't think many in here believe Xhaka is really hurt.

Newcastle look to level this up before the break, but Dan Burn's header from a deep free-kick is flicked into the arms of Aaron Ramsdale.

Nothing but total commitment from both sides. Kieran Trippier scampers away down the right but sees his attempted cross-field ball blocked by the sliding Gabriel Jesus.

There will be five added minutes. Would have preferred more. Just don't let it end.

After a bit of treatment, Bukayo Saka is back up and ready to carry on, albeit with a bit of a limp.

Yep, Bukayo Saka has been caught on the heel by Bruno Guimaraes. It's difficult to tell if there's any intent, but I suspect not.

Regardless, it's a painful one for Saka, who had his boot removed by the contact.
