What's happened here?

Arsenal are on the break and the ball is fed wide by Bukayo Saka, who then drops to the turf and stays down. Bruno Guimaraes is close by, so has he caught him?

Arsenal put the ball out.

Joelinton doesn't want a throw in that comes his way. He isn't ready and can't control it quickly enough. Martin Odegaard picks his pocket. The Norwegian carries the ball into then box and then finds Gabriel Martinelli but his angled shot flashes across goal and wide.

Dan Burn draws a huge yelp of anguish from Gabriel Jesus as he knocks him to the turf. It's a foul, nothing more. We're still yet to see a booking in the game, but some players are walking a tightrope.

Both teams are pressing effectively, both are throwing themselves into tackles, both are playing some lovely, slick stuff in possession. It's magnificent.

TheBrightonBard: If Arsenal continue to lead there’s a red card in this game as Newcastle get increasingly irritated at the time-wasting tactics that have already begun. I predict fireworks.

Oof, Nick Pope is lucky!

He slips as he tries to punt a ball clear and is really fortunate that the ball does not strike Bukayo Saka and potentially cannon back into the Newcastle net.

Arsenal defend a Newcastle free-kick well.

Kieran Trippier whips it in from deep on the right but a Gunners head is first to it.

I think that little period ahead of the free-kick being taken was the most still this ground has been since kick-off.

Just before that Arsenal attack, Gabriel Jesus and then Granit Xhaka were knocked to the floor by a late tackle. There are things of interest happening all over the pitch.

Ben: Could easily be 3-3 at this point - neither team can be bothered to defend.

Dave: This match is an absolute banger so far!

Joelinton tries to take the ball and turn to get a sight of goal but the ball is taken away from him.

Soon after, Arsenal are away down the other end in numbers but Gabriel Martinelli holds on a fraction too long and then sees a backheel to Bukayo Saka cut out. The pass to Martin Odegaard on his right was the premium ball.

Within the wider battle, there's a contest going on between these two keepers to demonstrate their superiority in the England pecking order.

Aaron Ramsdale is drawn into action again, diving at the feet of Callum Wilson to push the ball away after it had been crossed in low from the right.

Wilson goes down to howls for a penalty, but it's just good goalkeeping, nothing else.

Now Aaron Ramsdale's turn to pull out a big save!

Joe Willock sees the ball break into his path just inside the box. He can pick his spot but sends his shot just a bit too close to the Gunners keeper. It still needs saving, though, which Ramsdale does superbly.

Arsenal look dangerous every time they go forward.

There’s gaps in the back for Newcastle. You wouldn’t often say that because they’ve been so sound this season.

Newcastle's turn to attack. Alexander Isak mugs Ben White off, beating him with ease before finding Callum Wilson. Gabriel holds him up, though, and then tackles to see off the immediate threat.

A much-needed breather for both sides as Fabian Schar gets some treatment.

The two sets of players gather for a little group meeting. Nobody change anything, OK? Just let the entertainment flow.

Paul: There’s more goals in this game based on the first 20 minutes. Has to be. Great tempo to the match! Cue the next 70 minutes of goalless action...

Nick Pope to Newcastle's rescue again!

Bukayo Saka is found between the Newcastle centre-backs with space in front of him. He tears away from them and lets fly with a shot that Pope bats away with his left shoulder.

I'm not exaggerating to say it could easily be 3-3 already.
