West Ham manager David Moyes, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “We were able to see it though. Defend, counter-attack and get some opportunities - 1-0 we were the better side and we deserved to go 2-0 up."

On whether West Ham have secured Premier League status for next season: “If I was one of the other teams I would probably would be thinking it’s a bit far away to get the points. While it’s not enough we have to try and win another game or two."

On Thursday’s Europa Conference League semi-final: “It’s a big week for us. The crowd were fantastic for us tonight, but no wonder the way the players performed. We put on a really good show.”

Lawman: West Ham deserved that. We were spineless at times. People should leave off David de Gea though. Ok he’s had a bad day today but he’s been awesome throughout his career with Manchester United. He’s really saved us at times. Big time!

Manchester United have lost eight away games in the Premier League this season, their joint-most away defeats in a single season in the competition, along with 2021-22 and 2015-16.

On the number of games: "We cant be sorry for ourselves. We have to keep going and show character. It's only four games. You need energy. Get ready for the games, clear your head, energy, focus and go."

On not hitting the target: "Of course disappointed, we created and we had the game in our hands. You follow the effects when you concede a goal. But, in front of the goal we need to be more clinical."

On finishing in the top four: "In this season we had some terrible setbacks and every time we bounced back so once again we show the character and go on."

Manny: At least under Ole, United looked like they could always nick one back. This Ten Hag side looks short of ideas going forward now Rashford's no longer banging them in for fun.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “First half I think it was a decent performance and second half it was below our standards. We should have been up in the first half, we played good football but one mistake and you are following the effects.

“We have everything in our hands but we have to bounce back and reset, we have to use this week.

On West Ham’s goal: “It’s part of football, you have a lot in your head but football is a game of mistakes. There is a team, you have to bounce back and deal with he effect. You can also say in front of goal we were not clinical enough. We hit twice the post, we had good chances, we didn’t score, so that’s the end result.

“I can't blame my team, they put all their effort in.”

On Thursday's Europa Conference League semi-final: "We're really looking forward to Thursday night, we've really got an opportunity. We've got a tough game but I'm hoping tonight will give us confidence. The crowd were great and if we can get them behind us it will make it a really difficult place to come on Thursday."

On VAR: "We've had a few decisions that have gone against us but I've got to hope that they are going to change, I've got to hope they will level themselves out and we will get a couple of penalties before the end of the season."

Jonny Green: The ONLY thing I can cling on to as a Man Utd fan right now is that three of our last four PL games are at home. That could be crucial in determining top four - we do still have a game in hand, but that has to be a win. Nothing else will do.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on BT Sport: “First half, I think we played quite well and we created a lot of opportunities, but on the first occasion they scored a goal. Of course, disappointment with the result, same as Thursday [against Brighton]. We lost for ourselves and now we have one week, the first time since Christmas, we need energy because both second halves were below standards.”

Allan McDevitt: Forget about Jude Bellingham, whoever gets Declan Rice is going to be the winner of the summer transfer window.

On VAR: "It's going against us at the minute, I don't get involved. It's the referees. What can they do, it's Stockley Park, it's down to them to tell the ref what's happening. I think the refs get a bit of stick when they shouldn't."

On Thursday's Europa Conference League semi-final: "The semi-final is so big. Last year we got to one [semi-final], we know what it felt like. That's what it's all about - you want to win trophies. At West Ham we haven't won one for years so we need to stamp our authority - what a massive achievement that would be for the club."

Paul: For all the talk about Manchester United tonight, Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta were brilliant. They bossed that midfield.

West Ham manager David Moyes on BT Sport: “Huge character, I thought they played well and they also had to defend well at times. Overall I thought the performance was excellent tonight.

On West Ham’s Premier League status: It [the result] leaves us much better, much harder for the other teams to catch us, they’ll find it very difficult to get the points. The number isn’t confirmed that it keeps you in the Premier League so we have to look forward to the next game and try and pick up more points.”

On Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta: “They’ve been huge because we have been up and down this season – it’s not been easy to explain why. Is it the new players coming in or is the players from the last two or three years not doing quite as well. Lucas Paqueta is settling into the Premier League and at times gives the ball away but the bits he does. Declan Rice is continually growing, I say so many good things about him because I can see the things he’s doing everyday. He is a really, really talented player. Thomas Soucek as well – the three of them together, we’ve got a great blend.”

Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand speaking on BT Sport about David de Gea: "The question mark about him I think is whether he's good enough with his feet to play the Erik ten Hag way.

"In terms of shot-stopping he's made a mistake today but that's not the area I question him. Is he a good enough footballer to play for Manchester United?

"The only person that can answer that is Erik ten Hag and we'll know at the end of this season."

Former England striker Peter Crouch speaking on BT Sport about David de Gea: "It's a strange one, because he's conceded goals from his own mistakes but he's also kept the most clean sheets in the league.

"If he's in contract negotiations making mistakes like that is never going to help. He's been a top-class goalkeeper over the years, but at the moment it feels like he's making big errors in big, big games."

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes tells BT Sport that "we don't need to focus on that" when asked about David de Gea's error.

"He has saved us so many times," he adds.

West Ham United

David Moyes is now speaking to Match of the Day. He says West Ham need "another win or two" before praising the fans inside London Stadium for creating a fabulous atmosphere.
