“His left foot does slip slightly but that’s no excuse, he’s got full contact on the ball. He can get a full hand to the ball, it’s not like he is stretching and getting fingertips on it. He’s got a whole hand on it. He misses it completely and it’s a big, big mistake from him.”

Former Liverpool, Tottenham and Stoke striker Peter Crouch: “David de Gea has had a shocker, we can’t dress it up.

“David de Gea cant set himself, but even then, if you look at De Gea’s position, he’s back peddling, back peddling and then he cant get on the front foot at all. You cant justify it at all, it’s a terrible mistake.”

Kit: As bad as the mistake by De Gea is, it doesn’t change the fact that we’re not winning games like this because, as Luke Shaw said in the week, the attack is not creating/taking their chances

West Ham United

Since David Moyes' Everton beat Manchester United 1-0 in August 2012, his teams have been a 1-0 ahead at half-time against the Red Devils on two occasions. Both times it was with West Ham and both times they ended up not winning the game; 1-1 away draw in July 2020 and 3-1 home defeat in December 2020.

Great reception for West Ham's triumphant FA Youth Cup winning side earlier when they paraded the trophy before kick-off.

They thrashed Arsenal 5-1 in the final last month to win it for the first time since 1999.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I am extremely happy, obviously and then there is pride. I am very proud of the players for the way they handled the environment and a team who has a lot of things that they do really well. We handled that really well. There was a lot of emotion from what happened last year here and in sport, when you have another opportunity, you have to show you have learned and approach it from a different way. I saw the fight in them to do it a different way today.

"We have to get back to that feeling [of losing last year - the video of which he showed his players ahead of Sunday] to understand. It is not enough just to talk about it. We have to see our faces and understand the emotions, not just the players but the staff also. You don't want to be like this anymore, it is a horrible feeling. Today we had to show a different type of competitiveness, desire and then quality.

"You have to continue to grow. We have done it for 10 months and we have to keep digging every day. The demands are incredibly high., we know that. We are doing what we have to do, to win football matches and competing really well. It is three games to go and we are still there.

"Before the game, I felt that I would put my boots on today because the atmosphere was incredible. That is what you want. You are playing for a championship, we guarantee second place. Let's keep going and digging and digging and see what is there."

And it's Said Benrahma again but this time David de Gea gets down to make the save. West Ham, however, want a penalty against Victor Lindelof as the visitors break at the other end.

Jarrod Bowen crashes to the ground after a late challenge by Tyrell Malacia who is rightly shown a yellow card. That was a very poor challenge.

Andrew: It really is time for United to move on from De Gea. His lack of quality distributing the ball is already at odds with what Ten Hag seems to want from his goalkeeper, and there are just too many errors in his game now.
