There's not really much riding on this game and you can tell.

Not a particularly energetic start to this game. Brentford have had the best chance so far through Mikkel Damsgaard while West Ham are yet to test David Raya.

You see how encouraged the Everton crowd are by the team pressing on the edge of the opposition's penalty area. That's where you see Everton getting success so often. Now that that's over, they've dropped right back into their own half.

Abdoulaye Doucoure, who scored twice against Brighton, has the chance to get away but Kyle Walker is quick enough to get there first.

West Ham work the ball well down the right but then Tomas Soucek wastes the opportunity with a rather odd lofted ball into absolutely no-one and it goes behind for a goal kick.

Everton have a corner but Ruben Dias heads it away.

Then Ederson hits an absolutely woeful clearance straight at Alex Iwobi, who can't take advantage. The home fans loved that - well not Iwobi's touch but the first bit.

So close to the lead for Brentford as Kevin Schade does well to keep an attack alive on the left and sends the ball into the box. Mikkel Damsgaard rises unmarked but glances his header wide of the far post.

Erling Haaland and Yerry Mina have been holding each other's shirts, grasping each other. I think we'll see that all afternoon long. It's the way Yerry Mina likes to play and, certainly, Erling Haaland doesn't shy away from those physical challenges so I don't think it'll be the last time we're talking about those two players today.

Referee Anthony Taylor wants to lay down an early marker by chatting to Everton defender Yerry Mina, who has the responsibility of looking after Erling Haaland today.

The pair were grappling off the ball in the opening minute so it will be fascinating to see how that duel develops.

Maxwel Cornet sends a cross in from the left but it floats well over the bar and behind.

The Hammers made seven changes from their last Premier League match, their most from one match to another this season, and they have a stacked bench with Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen in there.

Kyle Walker's ball over the top is too over the top for Erling Haaland and runs through to Jordan Pickford.
