We quite often say you're at your most vulnerable when you've just scored or when you've just conceded, and that's exactly what happened with Everton there. They've defended quite well so far but conceded the opening goal to a bit of brilliance then in this moment looked completely exposed.

It's Ilkay Gundogan with the cross and nobody is getting above Erling Haaland in that situation. Jordan Pickford can't do anything about it, it's brilliant play by Manchester City.

What a good finish that is from Ilkay Gundogan. Manchester City haven't got the ball into the penalty area in this way too often up until now.

They just move the ball to the right, Riyad Mahrez crosses and with his back to the goal, Gundogan manages to control it on his thigh, spin Patterson then flick it with his right foot right into the corner. Those are the quality moments that Manchester City possess. It's such intelligent play.

Brentford win their fourth corner of the game as they look to double their advantage but Mathias Jensen's inswinger is headed away by Angelo Ogbonna.

City midfielder Rodri gets the ball from Aymeric Laporte and hammers a shot towards the bottom corner which Jordan Pickford manages to save.

Huge chance for Everton. James Tarkowski heads a corner down and Mason Holgate skies it from about four yards out at the far post. The ball was bouncing a bit high so he couldn't get it right.

Everyone in the stadium thought that Julian Alvarez was away. The ball bounced so high it was difficult for him to take but Dwight McNeil spotted the danger early and ran across the field to help Yerry Mina and Idrissa Gueye dissolve that situation.

Manchester City won't get too many opportunities on the counter-attack, with the way that Everton play, and that was a big one.

Everton counter at pace. Brilliant first touch from Dominic Calvert-Lewin to skip past Ruben Dias but Kyle Walker takes the ball off his foot.

Really lovely Brentford attack as Mikkel Damsgaard spots Aaron Hickey's run into the box and finds him with a precise pass. Hickey then squares for Yoane Wissa, whose low drive is saved.
