Inter Milan are into the Champions League final for the first time since they won the competition in 2010.

They will face either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final.

Lukaku coming on was a breath of fresh air for Inter, and Lautaro Martinez just knows how to score.

Lautaro loves to score against Milan, he's got seven goals in his last nine games now, so he's really on form.

What a year it has been for him. He's scored in pretty much all competitions he has played in, and won the World Cup too. We'll have to wait and see how far it's going to go for him in the Champions League.

You have to be impressed with Inter Milan. I think they will have a chance in the final.

I think there's a way of rotating that squad, if they can secure their Champions League place in the Serie A table too, that will give them time to focus on the final.

All credit to Inter. They were defensively strong throughout the whole campaign, not just in these two semi-final ties.

Mind games already from Javier Zanetti?

Inter vice president and former captain Javier Zanetti, speaking to Sky Italia: "It is a great emotion, the group deserved to play in a Champions League final after 13 years.

"We are waiting to know the name of our opponents, but what this group has done is very important, in any case.

"I would like to avoid Real Madrid because the competition seems made for them.

"But the most important thing is to get there; it was a difficult path."

In the important moments Inter have always come through.

They beat Barcelona, they managed to defeat a Porto side who always scalp Italian teams, then also Benfica (who threw Juventus out of the Champions League and overcame PSG to win the group).

So Inter have been this team that have always shown up when it matters, and scored the goals when they've needed to.

The problem sometimes is that they fall asleep against sides that don't challenge them at that level, but when it matters they have the depth.

I know people think that whoever wins the other tie will overcome this Inter side, but I wouldn't be all that confident.

Inter’s Lautaro Martínez has been named player of the match by Uefa. No surprises there.

The Argentine has scored 25 goals in all competitions this season, his joint-most in a single campaign for Inter.

Only Victor Osimhen (28) has scored more for Serie A clubs in 2022-23.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard on BT Sport: 'We have to pay credit to Inzaghi tonight. He could have easily let the emotion of the tie get the better of him, but he didn't. He gave Rafael Leao no space to run into, they defended exceptionally and his substitutions were spot on. This manager has found the right formula with this team."

"He's got a decision on who to play in the final. Does he go with the experience of Dzeko, or does he go with Lukaku who played well off the bench?"

To be brutally honest Inter deserved it, the stats will show you that too.

If Milan had been more ruthless and taken those chances they had when they came, it could have changed the tie.

But we knew that it was always going to be difficult for them to break Inter down, eight clean sheets in the competition so far.

But over the two legs, Inter deserved it.

There's still plenty of Inter supporters still singing inside the San Siro.

They've waited 13 years for this moment.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "No disrespect to Inter, but they will go into the final as underdogs.

"They have a really solid squad, and lots of players who have played in big games but if you saw them in the group stages, you would never of thought they would get to this point."

AC Milan have failed to score in five of their 12 Champions League games this campaign, no team has failed to do so more often in this season's tournament.

They weren't great tonight, managing just one shot on target.

It's not every day you beat your nearest rivals to go through to a Champions League final. Inter fully deserve to go through to the final.

But they look tired. You get to this stage of the season and you think, 'how much more have they got to offer?'

How much more have they got left to give this season and for that final?

Janez: If Lautaro and Lukaku click Inter will beat anybody.

Inter have scored in nine of their 12 games. Only Real Madrid (11) have scored goals in more matches in the Champions League this season.

At the other end, their eight UCL clean sheets are more than any other side in the tournament this campaign.

What a night.

Its not really been about the football. The game was average,in terms of the quality, it was quite sloppy.

What you saw was a gritty team in Inter, who knew how to get the job done.

AC Milan didn't have nearly enough on the night to reel that deficit back in. It was quite apparent that even though they had that great early chance to maybe set something rolling, they just didn't have enough.

But after that it was all Inter who just took control. It's their evening.

Inter's players go to one end, jumping up and down with their supporters.

At the other end of the San Siro, AC Milan's players applaud their fans.
