    Leeds v Tottenham (16:30 BST)

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds and Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Spurs have been so poor, especially away from home. They seem like a rudderless ship at the moment, they really do.

There's a lot of people talking about the managerial situation but I think the play needs looking at too.

I can see Leeds getting a result, and the atmosphere is going to be outstanding. Sam's had them training here for the last few days to get them used to the stadium.

The unfortunate thing for Leeds is it's been left too late so it's out of their hands.

  2. 'Big Sam's methods haven't worked'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Leeds v Tottenham (16:30 BST)

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The biggest call [Allardyce] has had is to change to goalkeeper and that hasn't really changed anything. He's tried anything. It's just not worked and Elland Road will be a fortress.

I watched last week against West Ham and West Ham were in second gear and managed to score. Leeds didn't put any pressure on and it felt like the belief just seeped out of the side.

It could be a really tough afternoon.

  3. Another play-off shoot outpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

We've got ourselves a good old-fashioned shoot out!

Head on over here to see how it goes in penalties at the end of the League Two play-off final between Carlisle and Stockport.

  4. 'The biggest job Allardyce has had'published at 16:10 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Leeds v Tottenham (16:30 BST)

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds and Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

He's one of the best man-managers I've worked for and he gets the best out of the playing staff that he's got. That's the reason that he was brought in.

I'm sure some of the board would have had him a lot earlier. I think it's a case of getting the best out of this squad. I think it's a case of grossly overspending on players that aren't good enough to play in the Premier League.

Bielsa was famed for getting the best out of the players he had and I think Sam could do the same thing. He's got to try everything. He's had four games to do it and like he said, it's the biggest job he's had. And he's taken it to the last day.

There are no programme notes from Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear for today's game.

Instead, it is left to manager Sam Allardyce to issue the rallying call to the Elland Road faithful.

Allardyce accepts Leeds are in a 'difficult position' and need the help of the club's supporters to get out of the mess they find themselves in.

"We will need your support and help again, like you gave against Newcastle," he says.

"It was an absolutely fantastic atmosphere that day and your support will give us the best possible chance of getting three points this afternoon.

"Thank you for your backing in the short time I have been here. I greatly appreciate it."

It promises to be a nerve-wracking afternoon for Everton, Leicester and Leeds supporters as two of those sides will join Southampton and be relegated to the Championship.

For a large part of this season, Aston Villa fans would have feared or expected their team to be in a similar battle, not pushing for European qualification, on the final day.

By the time Steven Gerrard was sacked in mid-October, an hour after a 3-0 loss at Fulham, Villa had won only two of 11 matches and were only out of the relegation zone because they had scored more goals than Wolves.

Former Sevilla and Arsenal boss Unai Emery came from Villarreal and the change was instant with a 3-1 win over Manchester United in his opener.

A 2-1 win at the Amex over today’s opponents came soon after on 13 November, for Villa’s first away victory of the season, and Emery has overseen a remarkable climb up the table.

Only Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have picked up more points than Villa since Emery became manager so can he finish off the job and bring European football back to Villa Park after a 13-year absence?

“In front of us is the most important match we are going to face,” said the Spaniard. “We want to be excited, not anxious, but to be excited, be very motivated and to enjoy the process.”

Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest (16:30 BST)

I know Roy Hodgson is getting on a bit but Crystal Palace can't be in a rush to get rid of him.

He has done a remarkable job since being appointed at the end of March, so who is going to come in and do any better?

Whatever the future holds for Roy, he will want to end this season with a win and Nottingham Forest's awful away record makes his side heavy favourites, especially with Eberechi Eze in such fine form for the Eagles.

Forest have won only one of their 18 league games on the road so far - at Southampton in January - and have picked up seven points in total.

I don't see them adding to their tally here, but they are staying up and that is the most important thing.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Palace's only victory in their past nine home league meetings with Nottingham Forest was by 1-0 in the second tier nearly 20 years ago (D4, L4).

Forest have never lost to the Eagles in the Premier League, winning three of the five encounters - including this season's reverse fixture.

This game doesn’t have a lot riding on it because both teams are safe from relegation. However, for Palace it could be a significant match. Wilfried Zaha is out of contract at the end of this season and the Palace man hasn’t decided on his future yet. The club unveiled a mural earlier in the week which show some of his most iconic moments.

Everton boss Sean Dyche speaking to Sky Sports: "We are stretched but we think we have a squad that can go and win. It's about having a framework and the freedom to go and play. There's a lot of noise around it so it's finding that balance.

"I want to see that again today - that 'never say die' attitude. We want that there. But it's not just about attitude and motivation, we want a performance.

"We need to just focus on us. You can't change what goes on around you."

Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil to Sky Sports: "Neto had to leave the team hotel yesterday late for personal reasons. He has flown back to Brazil. Thoughts with Neto and his family. We wish him all the best.

"Huge occasion for us because it's a Premier League game at a tough place. The boys know what's expected and we want to finish the season on a high.

"We don't look too much at Everton or what goes on at the bottom. We have worked hard to be in this position and we want to win another football match."

  16. Klopp has 'no worries' over Salah's futurepublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

Jurgen Klopp says he has "no worries" over Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool despite the winger saying he was "devastated" about failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Salah posted his comments on social media shortly after Manchester United's 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday which denied Liverpool a top-four finish.

Klopp's side will finish fifth and play in next season's Europa League

"Mo loves being here and Mo was part of it," Klopp said on Friday.

"He said apologies for what 'we' did - not apologies for 'what the other guys did, but I had to go with them'. It is all fine."

The Egypt international said on Twitter on Thursday: "There's absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year's Champions League and we failed.

"We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it's too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down."

  17. Unity with fans 'will be trampoline' for Liverpoolpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Southampton v Liverpool (16:30 BST)

Jurgen Klopp is bullish about Liverpool's future, despite his clear disappointment at missing out on the Champions League.

Manchester United's commanding win over Chelsea on Thursday confirmed the Reds will play Europa League football next season.

Klopp accepts his side have fallen short of the required standards this year but says he has seen enough to be optimistic.

"It's not a season we will talk about," he said. "We have failed to give our people more to enjoy.

"But nobody is tired, everybody cares and everybody wants to do their best. The unity between us and the supporters is so important. That trust and faith is a super basis for us.

"We have created this atmosphere and I love that. It will be a trampoline for us and that for me is the trophy we have won this year."

It is Liverpool's lowest final position since Klopp's first season in charge, 2015-16, but Klopp is not overly concerned that missing the top tier of European football will affect his transfer plans.

"It's obviously possible," he said. "But we are prepared. It is a long window and we have time."

  18. Klopp excited for future of Liverpool's young starspublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Southampton v Liverpool (16:30 BST)

Manager Jurgen Klopp is delighted with the progress made by Liverpool's young players this season as he prepares to wrap up the 2022-23 campaign at Southampton on Sunday.

Even though the Reds have not achieved their Premier League objective, Klopp has been able to hand lots of appearances to their talented crop of youngsters and he is convinced the future is bright.

"For the very young ones, Stefan [Bajcetic] is the standout player," he said. "He was exceptional. He played like a man, but unfortunately in a kids' body - and the intensity caught up with him.

"Harvey [Elliott] has played a lot of games for us in a not-so-good period, but he showed super signs. He will only go in one direction: forward.

"Then Curtis [Jones]. Getting him back was super important and I am really happy with what he has done. Our own boy making big steps."

Klopp reserved special praise for Fabio Carvalho who arrived from Fulham last summer but has only made four Premier League starts.

"No player has impressed me more than him," he said. "He is very talented, came here with a big dreams and expectations and it has not worked - but his work ethic will give him a fantastic career.

"I have never seen such a reaction from someone who is not getting in the squad."

James Ward-Prowse has refused to speculate on his Southampton future and believes it is a time for reflection for everyone at the club.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move away from St Mary's following the club's relegation to the Championship.

"I think when you go through something like this with the relegation it's a time for reflection for everybody whether you're a player or a member of staff," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"It's all about questioning what have you done this year to make sure you've done enough to reach the target or goals and ultimately across the board we've not done that well enough.

"Then you think about the future and what that looks like. I think that's in the back of everyone's mind moving forward not just about players but staff as well it's a big, big change for the club."

The Saints skipper believes the club is equipped with "everything it needs" to make an immediate return to the top-flight.

He added: "I've been here a long, long time. When you walk around the training ground and you look back at the memories you have here as an eight or nine-year-old it's sad to see it be the way it is now but that's life, that's football and I think regardless of what happens this club has got everything it needs to be back in the Premier League next year."

  20. 'I did as much as I can' - Sellespublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Southampton v Liverpool (16:30 BST)

    Ruben SellesImage source, Getty Images

Ruben Selles "did his best" in his time with Southampton, but is disappointed with the club's decision not to keep him.

The Spaniard took over as Saints' third manager of the season following the sackings of Ralph Hasenhuttl and Nathan Jones, but despite and initial upturn in form, results plateaued and the club's 11 year top flight stay came to and end.

"I did as much as I can, I show here every weekend with you, I make the team competitive," said the 39 year old.

"We didn't get the football, the results that we expected to have. I think you saw an identity, you saw a team that wants to play together but we didn't make it.

"I tried to put everything every time with this sort of mentality and in that part I did my best and that's the reality. I cannot change the decision from the owners."

Southampton announced on Monday that Selles' contract had not been renewed and the south coast side are set to appoint Swansea manager Russell Martin as his replacement.

"I don't know who is the new coach. You maybe probably know that better than me but, actually, it's not for me," added Selles.

"I just told the club what I think. I told before this week what I think is what we need to do to rebuild the squad for the Championship or for the Premier League in that time if we stay.

"So, they know my opinion, but they can do with that what they want."
