A new world record crowd for a domestic women's match. A third straight final in which Sam Kerr scored. A third straight final which Chelsea won.

Scott Gregory: Great crowd, superb to see 77k have a day out at Wembley and enjoy a well fought match.

Manchester United will have to recover quickly from this - in seven days' time they have a local derby to play.

They host Man City on the evening of 21 May, before travelling to Liverpool on the WSL final day. Huge, huge games.

United know they must win those, and hope Chelsea slip up somewhere.

After West Ham on Wednesday, Chelsea host Arsenal on Sunday lunchtime before travelling to Reading on the final day.

Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert speaking on BBC One: "What a day. It was a tough game. Man Utd were good and made it difficult for us. They had a fast start but we sorted it out at half time and got control in the second half.

"I want to play in the biggest game and the games that are tight so we can test ourselves against the best. We want everyone to get better.

"I was watching the Euros finals and thought I'll never get to play at a sold out Wembley but here I am today.

"I had my family down so I make sure I find them before the game. Seeing them settles me for the game. Having home away from home settles me.

"It's one piece of the jigsaw. I want more, this isn't enough. We want to go for the league now. We can only control the controllables. No one wants to train we just want to play games.

"It took a lot out of me today but that's why we need to draw on the squad. Everyone is coming back at a good time of the season so we need to utilise the squad over the next few weeks. You could see we were getting tired at 90 minutes so I'm glad it didn't go to extra time.

"I'll be on soda water and lime tonight."

The celebrations cannot go on too late for Chelsea - they have another game in three days.

On Wednesday they travel to West Ham in the WSL, knowing a win will take them top of the table - above Manchester United.

If Chelsea win their final three games of the season, they win the double. It is in their hands.

Keeping hold of [Alessia] Russo in January was huge for Manchester United.

If they want to be here again next year then they need to make sure she signs a new deal.

Plenty of Chelsea fans still in Wembley to celebrate with the players. The United seats are almost entirely bare.

Many Chelsea players are draped in the flags of their countries. Wales for Sophie Ingle, Australia for Sam Kerr.

The Chelsea players were made to wait to lift the trophy on the pitch in front of their fans while Emma Hayes did her interview with the BBC.

They would not dare start without her.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes speaking on BBC One: "We've played here more times that Stamford Bridge. Yes it's home.

"You can't underestimate the game accumulation, we looked so tired in the first half. We had to kick each other at half time.

"We know how to stay in a game and even if we weren't at our best we have to work out how to change it. We had to possess the ball better and then find the quality in the final third.

"It's a coaches nightmare. We don't do the kick off properly and then the first, second and third phases were all off.

"I've got to get them home tonight. They know the bus is leaving at 9pm and it will leave with them all on. The players deseve credit.

"Sam Kerr is priceless but let's credit Pernille [Harder]. We know we needed more stretching runs. I almost made the change at half time but I held off to see who might be tired."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Marc Skinner speaking to BBC One: "We switch off in one moment, there's space to Sam [Kerr] to run in to which we haven't given her all game.

"I'm proud of the girls today, they are hungry. Their position is what we want to take. We are a young, hungry team. I need to find the pieces to make sure we challenge all the time.

"Chelsea have done hardly anything in the game, but they are winners for a reason, they find that tiny little gap.

"I want to thank all the fans, they have been magnificent. We won't dwell on this, it fuels us. We watch this [Chelsea celebrate], this will be us in future."

Emma Hayes was the last one to lift the trophy on the balcony for Chelsea. What a dynasty she has built there.

This is her 12th major trophy with the Blues since taking charge in 2012.

Who would bet against Chelsea going on to win the WSL now? They know how to grind out results just like they have done today.

Emma Hayes has put together a relentless team.

All the players - including the injured Millie Bright - file to get their medals from the Prince of Wales. It's a tight squeeze on the balcony.

Captain Magda Eriksson collects the trophy - Chelsea's trophy, again - and, holding one handle and Bright takes the other, lifts it aloft.

Chelsea are relentless winners for a reason. Sam Kerr always delivers. They are deserved winners.

But Manchester United showed they belong on this stage and they will be back.

The winners' medals have been delivered, and now Emma Hayes leads her players up to collect them.

It's a familiar walk for Hayes, who has led Chelsea to all five of their Women's FA Cup triumphs since 2015.

Credit to Emma Hayes and and the consistency her team shows. The squad she has got and managing to keep them happy is a huge credit to her. She knows how to kleep these players at the top of their game.

Pernille Harder has been a huge miss for Chelsea this season, with her injury absence. She will be an even bigger loss should she depart this summer.

She completely changed the game when she came on, United had no answer to her skill and presence.

The United players and staff are on their way up to collect their runners-up medals now.

It's a second one to add to manager Marc Skinner's collection, after losing the 2017 FA Cup final with Birmingham City.
