Haider, City will have played Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in their cup run this season. The 3 most successful sides in the competition and 2 of the other top 3 sides in the PL. In the CL, Madrid were the reigning CL champions and had eliminated Liverpool having scored 5 at Anfield.

Wembley Way is full of Mancunians hoping for a joyful afternoon to make up for super early starts, thanks to the train strikes.

Police say this is high risk fixture, causing kick off to be moved back to its original slot of 3pm for the first time in 12 years, but currently there’s a nice vibe in the sunshine.

City fans I’ve spoken to have been more than confident the City express will remain victorious by the end of next weekend, but United fans are desperate for their team to turn up today and protect their Treble-winning legacy from ‘99.

Frankie is from Leeds so it is no surprise he is hoping Leeds-born Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is the star of today's show.

The eight-year-old is delighted to be at Wembley but unfortunately his dad has not been able to get tickets for next Saturday's Champions League final in Istanbul.

"I'll be watching that one on television," says Frankie. "We want to win the Treble."

I think we [Man Utd] have got a great chance to add another trophy to the one we already have this season, and as a bonus we can stop Man City winning the treble - but that's a minor thing...

At the end of the day, this is not about Man City and the treble - if they win that, they deserve it. Pep has created a really watchable team. But for us, it is about progress, adding more trophies to a very good season and ending it on a high.

A point about treble comparisons from a City fan. Firstly Utd are the only team to have achieved a treble. City are only 33% there so shouldn’t even be discussed yet as there’s rather a big game today first. Secondly why is there a media obsession with comparisons and rankings. The fact that so far the treble has only been achieved once tells you everything you need to know. If City do manage it let’s just celebrate two great teams that belong to two different football worlds.

It's a tricky one. If I was the number one, I'd be furious not to play. This is one of the most iconic games you can ever play, being denied that, I don't understand the reasons. I would be very sad about that.

Ortega has played very well, he's not conceded a goal all the way to this final, there is a case for Pep to say, I want my second keeper to play games. But if I was the manager, I would play what I considered to be my best team.

Team news will be revealed in just over half an hour, but this is what we know so far.

Manchester United's France forward Anthony Martial will miss the final because of a hamstring injury, while Antony is a doubt.

The Brazil winger was carried off on a stretcher in the 4-1 win over Chelsea on 25 May.

Asked whether Antony will be available, Ten Hag said: "Unlikely, still a chance but it's a really small chance."

The big news from the Manchester City camp is that Stefan Ortega will start in place of Brazil keeper Ederson.

Pep Guardiola said he had no fresh injuries and that Jack Grealish, who has not featured since 17 May, and Kevin de Bruyne, who missed the defeat by Brentford last Sunday, have trained.

Bucket hats aplenty outside Wembley but Manchester United fans who are without the peak 90s fashion accessory need not dip into their pockets. That's because they are being given a free limited-edition bucket hat and hand waver flag by the club when they get to their seat.

Manchester United did the same for the League Cup final and they say the aim is to "create a red-and-white wall of support".

"We've been quoted £500 which is out of our price range," Vimal, Dhruv's uncle, tells me.

Still, the pair plan to spend the day outside Wembley soaking up the atmosphere.

"The ironic thing is that we travel up to Old Trafford at least once a month and have no problem getting tickets," adds Vimal.

Rashford is their danger man and he could have scored a hat-trick last time these two teams played. However, they [Manchester City] have now changed how they play.

If I was Manchester United I would play Garnacho on the left and have him occupy Walker, and then Rashford down the middle.

I don't want to get into stuff like that. 1999 was so many years ago, football was played in a very different way on different quality pitches. It was just another world of football. I've seen the teams lined up against each other in terms of points, goals scored, goals conceded - you just can't [compare].

What we did back then was special, and in doing that we were riding our luck so much - we end up winning the league by a single point. This City team, they just turn on the engines after the World Cup and smash everything in their way. This is just an incredible football team.

One thing you maybe can compare is the managers, two incredible managers with great ideas, great at managing the group but also the individuals - they are big enough to do that, they are big characters. That's pretty much the only thing you can compare.

RE:Chris (10:36) - Man Utd played in a group with Bayern Munich and Barcelona, got through Inter Milan, Juventus and Bayern in the knockouts to win the UCL in 1999. Their FA cup run in 1999 consisted of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal and Newcastle in the final. City by comparison played Chelsea, Bristol , Burnley and Sheffield United on the way to this years FA cup final. The Madrid and Bayern teams they have beaten are probably the weakest those two teams have been in the last decade, with RB Leipzig also in the knockout stages. Incredible downplaying of United’s Treble!
