We've not seen Ada Hegerberg shine at the World Cup, Norwegian fans want to have their best player back. She is certainly not lacking in confidence.
New Zealand 0-0 Norway
That seems to wake Norway up and Ada Hegerberg attempts an overhead kick from a decent ball into the box. The shot is deflected and loops into the air before the whistle goes for a foul on the New Zealand goalkeeper.

The frontline of Norway is absolutely potent and that could be the difference.
They will kill you off if you give them opportunities.

A huge roar went up from the crowd as New Zealand fittingly got the 2023 Women's World Cup underway. This moment has been three years in the making since they were announced as co-hosts with Australia in 2020. And the fans have turned up in their tens of thousands to back the Football Ferns.
New Zealand 0-0 Norway
A great ball is played forward and Hannah Wilkinson uses her pace to break clear of the defence. Her touch inside the box is a little heavy and takes her away from goal but Norway are struggling to clear their lines before Malia Steinmetz fires over.
Positive stuff from New Zealand.

Norway needed a shake up and a new manager. The Euros, in their mind, was a disaster, that thrashing 8-0 by England was humiliating for them.
They've made that change and Hege Riise is an absolute legend of Norwegian football.
New Zealand 0-0 Norway
It is a positive start by New Zealand as they look to use the early enthusiasm of the home crowd to their advantage. They are on the front foot, looking to unsettle Norway.
There would be some noise here if the co-hosts can score first.

It was wonderful seeing the national anthem, with tears welling up in the likes of Ali Riley and Ria Percival's eyes.
To have the World Cup final on home soil is so so special. To have the stadium full, to be hosting a World Cup, with all their experience. It's a huge moment.

Now all the players and officials line up around the centre circle as a moment of silence is observed to remember the victims of the deadly shooting in Auckland earlier today.

New Zealand's national anthem is greeted by a huge applause from the home fans, the players belting out the words with big smiles on their faces. This is a huge moment for them and their country.

The captain Ali Riley, she is a really energetic player, she plays with a really positive mindset and if she can play with that energy and the smile on her face, I think that can really rub off onto the other players and create that feeling that they need.
It's a big occasion for them and they really need to enjoy that.
She played at the highest club level as well in Sweden, Bayern Munich, Chelsea.
She has broad enough shoulders to carry that weight.

I think it's fair to say the crowd loved that opening ceremony judging by their reaction. And talking of crowd...Eden Park is pretty much full as the teams emerge from the tunnel. Will this be a record crowd for a football match in New Zealand?

The players are out on the pitch and it is time for the national anthems.

The stand out Norway player is at Chelsea, Guro Reiten. She had an exceptional season, she's a tricky player, great 1v1 and making things happen. Eleven assists in the Women's Super League, the most in the league.
I hope we see her shine in this tournament among so many other players.
New Zealand v Norway (08:00 BST)
Norway won the Women's World Cup back in 1995 but are looking to bounce back from a disappointing Euros last year, when they were thumped 8-0 by eventual champions England in the group stage.
“It is a year ago, a long season behind us,” Barcelona and New Zealand winger Caroline Graham Hansen said.
“It is a clean slate, we have a possibility to start afresh and to get going again.
“That is the beauty of football - there is always a new chance, and now we have it again.”

I would love to be sitting here and I hope they prove me wrong and the Lionesses go on to lift that trophy.
I can't look beyond USA for lifting the trophy, the blend of youth, the experience there, their mental capacity, they know how to get it done. I think it's a very exciting USA team for sure.
Fireworks from off the top of Eden Park light up the sky to signal the end of the opening ceremony and prompts a huge roar from the excited crowd.
That's all the pre-match stuff done and dusted, now it is onto the football.
New Zealand v Norway (08:00 BST)
I feel like Norway have a real point to prove at this tournament and, with Ada Hegerberg back in their team, they will be too strong for New Zealand.
I still think the co-hosts will get out of Group A, though. The Ferns haven't won a game at any of their five previous World Cups, but they will have a good chance of putting that right in their other two games.
