    BBC Sport at Oakwell

Bolton boss Ian Evatt heads for the dressing room with purpose.

His side have been second best here since the home side took the lead and they have 45 minutes to turn this around or their season will end tonight.

Barnsley boss Michael Duff will want more of the same.

The Tykes have been the sharper in the tackle and have harried the Trotters into numerous errors.

OK, it's not like last night but there's still more to come from this.

Liam Kitching's header gives Barnsley the lead at the break.

Bolton have a lot of work to do. Wanderers look off the pace and the Tykes could be two or three goals up.

It's just not happening for Bolton at the minute.

A speculative ball down the wing and into the Barnsley box bounces out for a goal-kick to the hosts.

A big half-time talk from Ian Evatt is very much needed if they are to avoid their season coming to an end tonight.

  4. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

Four minutes added on to the first half.

Not a massive surprise given the delays we've had.

It feels like Bolton are really struggling with the home side's physicality at moment.

Barnsley play some tidy stuff when they get their foot on the ball but they're happy to make this a battle to win it.

Right now Wanderers can't compete with their intensity in challenges.

    The Tykes sniff a second.

Liam Kitching is hungry for more having given Barnsley the lead earlier.

The Tykes centre-back is played through clear on goal but he strikes low at Bolton keeper James Trafford. The flag was up, however.

Bolton really need to calm things down, here.

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

Play continues as James Trafford is cleared to carry on.

Not long left until the break and Bolton don't look like scoring right now.

A goal before half-time would really open this game up. It's going Barnsley's way so far.

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

Barnsley are flagged offside moments after they pepper the Bolton box with cross after cross.

In the end, Bolton keeper James Trafford punches the ball away but in the process he clashes with team-mate Ricardo Santos and comes off worse, requiring treatment.

We've got another break in play. Expect a fair bit of time added on to this half, folks.

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

Bolton's Conor Bradley is down and in some pain having taken an elbow to the back by Barnsley goalscorer Liam Kitching.

Play continues but he's lucky he wasn't booked for that.

  13. 'Bolton aren't creating enough'published at 20:38 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

    Phil Brown
Former Bolton assistant manager on BBC Radio Manchester

Wanderers cannot let go of this game - they've got a grip of it, but they're just not creating enough going forward.

The second goal is so important. At half-time, Bolton will be looking at the strikers doing more by either holding it up or moving better.

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

The game has calmed down somewhat in the past few minutes.

Bobby Thomas mistakenly puts a low ball out for a Bolton throw-in deep in the Wanderers half, but the hosts immediately win the ball back.

Barnsley look comfortable with their lead at the minute.

  15. 'Barnsley are forcing errors'published at 20:35 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

    David Preece
Former Barnsley keeper on BBC Radio Sheffield

It's good from Barnsley that they've lifted that little bit of pressure coming from Bolton once they'd conceded.

You can see Bolton are looking at the referee when they're not getting free-kicks. That's because of the way Barnsley are forcing them into errors and giving away possession cheaply.

So, what's the Bolton response looking like after that Barnsley goal?

Well Ian Evatt's side swiftly win a corner which is delivered into the box by Aaron Morley.

There's some head tennis in the box before Dan Nlundulu tries to get a head on to it himself at the back post, but he puts it out for a Barnsley goal kick.

  18. 'The cross made the goal'published at 20:30 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Barnsley 1-0 Bolton (Agg 2-1)

    Phil Brown
Former Bolton assistant manager on BBC Radio Manchester

The first free-kick was a poor ball in but the second delivery was fabulous, it's got to be said. All the big guns were still in the box and that's the reason why Wanderers are 1-0 down.

Ian Evatt is angry because nobody came out to try to stop the cross going in. It was the cross that made the goal.

You've got to be of the mindset that you're going to stop the free-kick going into the box. Bolton were well in the game and have more than enough quality to stay in the game.

You've just got to keep your composure, gather yourself and make sure you stick to the manager's gameplan.

What an absolute peach of a cross that was from Luca Connell.

Bolton boss Ian Evatt will be furious with how his side defended there and they have been punished.

They didn't get out enough from the first ball into the box and Connell had way too much time to measure his ball to the back stick.

I said the game needed a goal for it to really get going, and we have got it!

    Advantage Barnsley.
