It's been absolute perfection. Chesterfield were right on the front foot from kick-off.

Notts County keeper Sam Slocombe had two early errors, one the penalty kick which Andrew Dallas fired home. It's been a performance full of energy and enthusiasm.

Sometimes you can get ragged and lose focus but Paul Cook will be really pleased with the concentration levels from his players.

For a side that scored a club-record 117 goals during the regular season, Notts County have spent 45 minutes misfiring against a Chesterfield outfit that are pumping along on all cylinders.

The Spireites deserve a world of praise for the way the have attacked this promotion final.

They are relishing the big occasion, no doubt.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a substitution at half-time.

Or a verbal volley from one or two of the players who look a bit shell shocked.

    Chesterfield on top.

Andrew Dallas' penalty on the 5th minute is the difference but the Spireites have been pretty dominant.

    Notts County look lost.

The Magpies boss Luke Williams is going to have to give his side the team talk of his life.

    Here come Notts County.

Ruben da Rocha Rodrigues dribbles toward the Chesterfield box on the nearside.

But he plays a soft pass to Adam Chicksen to his left and it is easily intercepted.

Chesterfield look pretty dangerous every time they come forward.

They have some serious wiggle, shake and gas.

Whereas Notts County have mostly looked like a bicycle going through mud with two flat tyres this first half.

Can Notts County find an equaliser?

    Chesterfield 1-0 Notts County

Notts County's Aaron Nemane has a low and powerful strike saved by the Chesterfield keeper Ross Fitzsimons.

It was an ambitious effort form the edge of the box but the Magpies had been pushed back and needed to try and create something.

    Chesterfield 1-0 Notts County

Notts County don't look like they have much of a plan in the final third at the moment.

Sending in long crosses into the box aren't really working for them because Chesterfield have plenty of players back.

They're not recycling the ball well and can't get into the Chesterfield area.

Notts played better in the first half of the semi-final against Boreham Wood than they have done here at Wembley.

Less than 15 minutes left in this opening half.

Notts County better in possession now.

A little calmer and less frantic.

But Chesterfield are keeping them at bay comfortably.

I'm trying to think of some positive things to say about Notts County so far in this game .....

Here comes Andrew Dallas again down the left hand side for Chesterfield.

He has so much space and dribbles the ball at pace into the Notts County box.

Ryan Colclough is calling for it in the middle but Dallas has his shot (maybe a cross) blocked by Sam Slocombe in net.

Liam Mandeville is an absolute menace and causing Notts County problems.

The Chesterfield midfielder's low stinging cross into the six-yard-box is palmed away by Sam Slocombe who is being kept incredibly busy in goal.

Mandeville is the Spireites joint top scorer with 10 league goals this season.

    Chesterfield 1-0 Notts County

I know we've already mentioned it but it's worth us remembering just important this game is for both clubs who have been on the cusp of a long awaited return to the EFL.

Notts County were relegated from League Two four seasons ago and they will be desperate to avoid playoff disappointment for the fourth time in a row, today.

Chesterfield have been away from the EFL for five years now and missed out on the playoffs the last two campaigns.

It's been brilliant, particularly the opening 15 minutes.

There's been one or two moments where Notts County have forced the issue but on the whole Paul Cook will be delighted with Chesterfield.

At the minute Chesterfield are right on the front foot and in Notts' faces. They are deservedly 1-0 up.

Notts County winger Aaron Nemane whips in a beautiful cross to the near post but Sam Austin can't connect at the near post.

    My word what an opportunity.

Austin leapt in with his leg in the air but couldn't get the touch.

Notts County midfielder Matt Palmer gives the ball away on the edge of his own box and it lands nicely for Andrew Dallas who pops off a shot but it is blocked by Connell Rawlinson.

    Chesterfield well on top here.
