When you're lining up against Everton and you could possibly be facing Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Neal Maupay, you'd be happier facing Maupay.

The physicality and energy that Calvert-Lewin brings gives Everton a lift as a team.

That out ball will be there, he will make sure he can disrupt the defence and get his side up the pitch, and he will cause problems in the box.

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Brentford

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Tottenham is a rudderless ship.

It's been a really disappointing season. We're now at 55 days since Antonio Conte was sacked, fifty five days. They are nowhere closer to getting another manager. They had managers walk away and distance themselves from the job.

We keep hearing again and again about this world class stadium and training ground - it has to be right on the pitch now.

They've had two win-now managers, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, who both have been backed. That's not worked. They need a manager who is capable of winning now but is also capable of giving them an identity.

  5. 'I will be grateful forever'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Brentford

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham winger Lucas Moura, speaking to BT Sport: "I wanted to win my last game at our stadium, unfortunately it was not possible. We played against a very good team and they were better in the second half - they deserved the win.

"It is a difficult time for me, a difficult day because it is always hard to say goodbye, especially when you love your teammates and the place you are. This is the life I live and I gavce my best every opportunity and I will keep everyone in my heart."

On his Champions League hat-trick at Ajax: "That game was unbelievable, it was very special - the best moment of my career. But I enjoyed every moment here: every training session, every game with my team-mates. This is what I will keep in my heat: the great memories. I will be grateful forever."

  6. 'Spurs' season has been a shambles'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Brentford

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on Final Score

Overall, Spurs' season has been a shambles. Below-par is undercooking it. With Antonio Conte leaving, the constant undertone of whether Harry Kane will leave or if he'll still be at Spurs.

They just look apathetic throughout the season, they just don't look collectively like they care enough.

  7. 'They deserved to win'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Brentford

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ryan Mason: "You have to compete for 95 minutes. In the first half we played a very good match. 1-0 is a dangerous scoreline, and if you’re not at it for the whole game you get punished.

"The goals we conceded were poor. They were the better team in the second half. They deserved to win.

"When emotions are high it’s probably best not to speak to one another. We’ve been on a [poor] run for a number of months now. The only way to turn that around is winning games and staying together.

"When you come in at this stage of the season there are always difficulties. In the first half, we saw a Tottenham side that we haven’t seen this season, but we weren’t able to sustain it for many different reasons.

"There’s only one way to act, and if we can’t act that way it’s disappointing."

On Spurs' European hopes: "I’m not sure. It’s out of our hands now, completely out of our hands now. We’ll have to see what the other teams do and try and win at Leeds."

On Lucas Moura: "We appreciate Lucas for that he’s done for this football club. I’m sure he’ll do a good job wherever he goes."

Has Wilfried Zaha played his last game for Crystal Palace?

The winger misses out today after picking up a hamstring injury against Bournemouth.

Zaha, 30, will decide whether to sign a new £200,000-a-week Crystal Palace contract at the end of the season - when his current deal us up.

  9. 'Liverpool have left it too late for top four'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

Liverpool v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on Football Focus

Liverpool are going to run out of games. They needed this run with about four or five more games to go I think.

The form that they are showing now is possibly frustrating their fans.

They've been outstanding, they have been scoring at will. Goals are coming from all over the park which is good.

I think they are about three or four games too late.

  10. 'Villa's transformation has been exceptional to watch under Emery'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

Liverpool v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on Football Focus

Aston Villa's transformation has been exceptional to watch since Unai Emery has taken charge. This Villa side is now full of confidence, they've got Ollie Watkins firing.

They're solid in defence, there is some real belief in what they are doing. They've given their supporters something to cheer about.

The fact that they were struggling at the bottom of the table at the start of the season and now we are talking about European places, just shows how well they have done.

  11. 'Game means more to Everton'published at 14:43 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Wolves v Everton (15:00)

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think this game means just that little bit more to Everton than it does to Wolves today.

Yes Wolves will want to win another three points and push themselves further up the table, but you question their motivation and mentality with it being so close to the end of the season.

  12. Crunch time for Evertonpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Wolves v Everton (15:00)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Molineux

For the second season in succession, Everton start their penultimate league game under threat of relegation. It is sadly symptomatic of catastrophic boardroom decision making, with owner Farhad Moshiri. chairman Bill Kenwright and CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale culpable and director of football Kevin Thelwell also under scrutiny after January passed with any additions to a struggling squad.

Everton can still put matters right, starting against a Wolves side making six changes today, but what a desperate reflection on those in power at the club that they find themselves in this dire situation once more.

I love Harry Kane and I love Spurs. But at moments like this you need leadership. Harry Kane might amongst the best strikers in the world. But he's not the best captain. This team needs leaders and Spurs have been missing genuine leaders for too long.

The fact that Ryan Mason has stated he wants the job full-time shows you how deluded Spurs are at the moment.

  14. What are the chances?published at 14:40 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

Bournemouth v Man Utd (15:00 BST)

    Manchester United

Manchester United are fourth in the table on 66 points with Liverpool just one point behind in fifth.

Liverpool were 12 points behind on 9 April, but their recent resurgence has kept them in the mix - while Manchester United have won only one of their past three games.

According to data experts Nielsen's Gracenote, Newcastle now have a 91% chance of finishing in the top four, while Manchester United have an 80% probability.

  16. 'Levy cannot afford to sell Harry Kane'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Brentford

    Scott Minto
Former Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Daniel Levy cannot afford to sell Harry Kane, unless someone comes in with a bid of over £100m.

Are they going to do that for a 30-year-old with one year left on his deal and no sell-on value? Despite him also being absolutely nailed on to score 20 goals wherever he goes.

I don't think Levy can afford to do that.

We'll see what happens, he may let his contract run out to the end of next season and move on then.

I'm so impressed with Brentford. Mbeumo and Wissa have been excellent recently. Really hope Frank stays for a while and continues to build.
