Jude Bellingham was asked if he had considered what his role would be within the team before deciding to join: "I have not just come here for the size of the club. Obviously it is huge, but when the vision of the team was pitched to me I was completely involved. I was all in.

"It's not just 'we are Real Madrid we want you to come and play for us'. That is enough for me to be honest, but the ideas they had were so good, it is just so exciting an opportunity I thought I couldn't turn it down."

Jude Bellingham on whether he would like to share a dressing room with Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid: "Like I said to the Harry Kane question, it's really none of my business.

"They are both unbelievable players and the best in the world at their positions.

"But I can't really comment. I don't know his situation.

"I have seen some of the coverage on the internet and on Twitter. If anything that my whole saga, if you like, has taught me it is not everything that you see is true. Don't take things word for word.

"I am trying to build my own opinion from what I know, but he is a great player, whatever he chooses to do all the best to him.

"Would I like to play with a player like Kylian Mbappe? Who wouldn't?"

Jude Bellingham on learning from Luka Modric and Toni Kroos: "The things I will gain from Modric and Kroos will be unbelievable. Their knowledge of the game, the way they play it. The experience will be so great for me. I will just be like a sponge around them, trying to steal everything they have got. They will probably be annoyed with me after the first week or so, but I can't wait to learn from those guys."

"I think it came from there. As you grow up you start to mature as you watch games from previous years and start to appreciate the achievements that came before you.

"I took a lot of interest in that. I think that's what makes Madrid appealing to me. It has a great history and you want to be one of the players that adds to it and continues to make it the greatest."

Jude Bellingham on whether he would like to see Harry Kane join him at Real Madrid: "As far as the Harry Kane rumours, I can't comment on that. He's a world class player, he's my captain for the national team. I love him as a player and as a person. Whatever happens there happens but it is not really for me to comment about."

On whether his dad Mark shed a tear during the news conference: "I don't know whether that was just sweat to be fair. He doesn't often cry so I think maybe a drop of sweat just dripped down his cheek. I will have to watch it back very closely and give him some banter about it.

"But obviously it means a lot to join this club. The deal has been done mainly through my family members. It is just amazing the respect the club showed my family. They didn't try to manipulate them in any way. It was a seamless process. It was a lot of work from them that has gone into this deal, so that was probably why they were so happy. It does mean a lot to them because it means a lot to me."

Jude Bellingham on Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti: "I have had a little bit of contact with him. He is just an incredible coach. His CV, his record, the games he has won, the trophies he has won, speaks for itself.

"For me it is a brilliant opportunity to come and learn from one of the greatest coaches that has ever coached. So very much looking forward to that and very grateful that he wants me in his squad."

I had some contact with him just to see if it was OK with him and he was a brilliant, brilliant guy, letting me wear it and just being so nice about it. I am very grateful to him.

"I have said in many interviews how much I admire Zinedene Zidane. The legacy within the club and this number. I am not trying to be the same as him, I am just trying to be Jude, but it is definitely a bit of a homage to how great he was.

Jude Bellingham opens up on his reasons for joining Real Madrid: "Money is not a thing for me. I don't think about money at all when I make these kind of decisions. I never have, I never will. I play the game purely out of love.

"I spoke with the people when I was given permission by Borussia Dortmund. I loved the feeling I got from the club. I couldn't hide it, I told them more or less straight away what I felt about the club and after I made my decision I wanted it all to happen quickly.

"It wasn't a case of the other teams are bad or they weren't good, it is just that, for me, Madrid are the greatest."

Jude Bellingham opened his first news conference with the Spanish press with a wish for the future: "Good afternoon everyone for a start, nice to meet you all. Hopefully we have a good relationship over the next few years.

"The reason why I said it is the proudest day of my life is because, like I said in the speech, it is the greatest football club in the history of the game.

"Not many players get the opportunity to play at such a brilliant club, such a historic club, so I feel really grateful.

"And, like I said, I am thankful to the people who have brought me here and given me the opportunity to play for this team."

Jude Bellingham added his thanks to his previous clubs and his family before signing off in Spanish: "There are a lot of people to thank for getting me here to this point - Borussia Dortmund, Birmingham City, the people that work there. Also the bosses here, Mr President, and of course most importantly my family, for their support and making the deal as easy as possible. So thank you very much and finally [in Spanish] 'Hala Madrid' [come on Madrid]."

"Today one of the best players in the world joins Real Madrid. He decided to join Real, the most prestigious team in the world, that's why we welcome Jude Bellingham.
