    Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Nice work from Morgan Gibbs-White sees him beat a man on the left but his pass forward for Brennan Johnson is cut out by William Saliba.

Just a little flash of something from Forest.

Forest sat back and waited for Arsenal to score one. Kept the tactic for the second, and now they are doing it for the third! Relegation fodder for sure.

I wonder, if Pep played the Kitman at centre-back, would Arteta do the same the season after?

    Kevin

Unfortunately Adam the difference between Saka and Haaland is that Saka won't do that another 60 times.

Lots of Arsenal fans chirping about Balogun scoring 21 in Ligue 1 meaning he should start. Who scored 27 goals in the same league? Alexandre Lacazette. I think Arteta knows best.

Arsenal scored 88 league goals last season, second only to City. And we have scored 2 goals in the first 30 minutes today. Yet we desperately need a world class striker? Really?

    Jake

If Nketiah scores 2-3 goals in the first three games he’s an adequate replacement for Jesus, 2-3 games without a goal and suddenly he’s a kid who can never replace the quality of the ex-city man. We fans are extremely fickle and do not give the young players a real chance to prove themselves.

More magic from Gabriel Martinelli sees him fly past a man on the left before curling a cross with the outside his boot that flies just in front of Eddie Nketiah.

Soon after, Willy Boly has to time his tackle to perfection to stop Nketiah firing in his second from inside the box.

    Forest clinging on.

Lots of glum faces now in the Forest section.

They'll be reflecting now on what might have been had Brennan Johnson scored that big early chance.

They stage their first attack since then but Danilo's looping cross is straight to Aaron Ramsdale.

You can always tell when something special has happened in a football ground. There's that murmur of people in the stands still waxing lyrical about it for minutes after.

Michael: Apparently, Nottingham Forrst is one of the 'top' 20 football teams in the English divisions. You wouldn't believe it watching this game so far.

Adam: Anything Haaland can do, Bukayo Saka can do better. What a goal!

    Bukayo Saka

    BANG!

    What a finish this is!

Bukayo Saka cuts inside from the right, fends off a challenge, picks his spot and finds it in spectacular fashion by firing a curling shot past Matt Turner and into the top corner.

    Absolutely brilliant.

    Good news for Forest.

Arsenal have avoided defeat in their last 35 matches when scoring the opening goal in the English Premier League dating back to 1st January 2022 against Manchester City (L1-2).

So sad to see absolutely no improvement whatsoever from Forest from last season. Our only hope is for 3 worse teams. Big if based on what I’m seeing so

    Rich

Can’t understand why arsenal spent £64million on Havertz who isn’t a striker and £40million on a spare goalie when we need a 25+ goals a season striker. £100million could have purchased us one of them.

    Guy

Arsenal have spent millions and millions but still need a world-class striker.

    Roger

Already loving the Champions League chasing supporters claiming everyone who isn't in the top half of the table isn't Premier League worthy and "championship quality"

Forest are a bit fortunate. Arsenal are swarming all over them on the edge of their own box but a trip from Bukayo Saka relieves the pressure.

Is this Forest squad good enough to stay up?? I don't think so.

    Graham

Arsenal have a leading centre forward with a poor injury record. Arsenal also have a centre forward who scored 20+ goals last season (Balogun). Why is he not playing?

Daniel: Not overly keen on this inverted full back thing with Partey. Put a proper right back in there and keep him in midfield. And get a proven goalscorer upfront boss!!

It has been said in the build up to this that Arsenal need a centre forward. If Eddie Nketiah isn't it, he did a really good impression just then.

    Eddie Nketiah

    It was coming.

All it needed was something clinical and Eddie Nketiah finds it. He is set up superbly by a neat turn in the box from Gabriel Martinelli, who backheels the ball to the forward.

He then turns away from his marker and fires in past Matt Turner.

Did Martinelli mean that pass? It's either a brilliant assist or a bit of luck. Very few people in the ground care.

A bit of excitement as Kai Havertz sees a shot blocked and Arsenal win a tackle to keep an attack alive that ends with Orel Mangala tackling Bukayo Saka on the edge of the box.

The Gunners go again and win another corner.

Bit harsh writing Forest off when currently they are in a Champions league spot
