Bruno Fernandes does the hard work, timing his run perfectly to meet a ball into the box but he somehow puts his header over from a couple of yards out.

He rightly has his head in his hands after that miss.

I wonder when it will finally click for players that officials are being tougher this season.

I saw 10 yellows shown in the Wolves-Brighton game earlier, many of those for timewasting or dissent and now Aaron Wan-Bissaka is booked after he stops a quick free kick being taken.

Manchester United have created a lot of chances so far in this game. The stats say they have had 12 shots already - the most Spurs have faced in the first half of a home league game since September 2022 (13 v Leicester).

Good chance for Tottenham as James Maddison sidesteps a challenge and leads a break.

The ball is worked to the edge of the area and Pape Matar Sarr makes a great run to get onto a pass but his shot is denied by André Onana, with Mason Mount then sweeping up the danger.

Good covering by Mount, who was alert to the danger.

I know we're not mentioning his name but they are missing a certain someone so far.

Now Tottenham come forward as they attack down the left. The ball is worked across the box to Dejan Kulusevski, but his curled effort is too close to André Onana.

The game is opening up, however.

Rashford started a bit poorly in the first 10 minutes but he is really coming into the game now.

On the other end of the pitch, the white shirt leading the line for Tottenham hasn't done much. Really disappointed with Richarlison so far.

Manchester United again attack down the left - Spurs are doing nothing to shut that outlet down - and Alejandro Garnacho passes to Fernandes, who plays a rabona to set Marcus Rashford up for the header but the striker heads over.

It looks like Rashford was offside, but will have wanted to hit the target from that distance.

That pass from Onana was the best pass of the game, 60-70 yards on the diagonal.

A brilliant ball to feet and Antony has to do better with that.

Fantastic ball by André Onana! The Manchester United goalkeeper just sprays the ball some 60 yards to the feet of Alejandro Garnacho on the left. The forward gets into the box but his square ball to Antony is cut out.

Still, that's what Manchester United fans want to see from Onana.

James Maddison whips the ball in but Lisandro Martínez clears.

A good turn and run by Yves Bissouma before he is fouled by Casemiro. Tottenham have a free kick on the left side of the box.

A little bit of that pre-match euphoria has been diluted here at Spurs as Manchester United make much the better start. Spurs cannot get Richarlison or Heung-Min Son into the game yet. Still early days, though.

Tottenham do come forward now as Pape Matar Sarr sends Dejan Kulusevski away. He gets into the box and waits too long for the cutback to set up James Maddison, but does win a corner.

Maddison sends the ball in low and flat but Sarr heads wide.
