    Fulham 0-0 Brentford

Brentford have a load of players that I can't imagine playing anywhere else. One of them, Mathias Jensen, does a lovely bit of skill before finding Bryan Mbeumo, another of them, but he loses the ball.

    Liverpool 2-1 Bournemouth

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Anfield

Mohamed Salah missed a penalty in the 1-0 away loss to Bournemouth in March and again fails to convert from 12 yards, but gets lucky as he is perfectly placed to smash in the rebound after Neto had got a hand to the effort.

It's been a bad few minutes for Neto after he was booked for furiously protesting against the soft penalty decision. Liverpool had also scored only eight minutes earlier, Luis Diaz scoring on the turn.

One down after three minutes, to 2-1 up after 36 and it's now the Liverpool fans making all the noise. There will be more goals to come, it's that type of afternoon.

    Liverpool 2-1 Bournemouth

Lovely play from Bournemouth. They almost work an opening in the box for Philip Billing, but he is tackled at the crucial moment preceding a shot.

That's the first real threat from the Cherries for a while.

    Fulham 0-0 Brentford

Good tackle by Brentford defender Nathan Collins in the box to deny Fulham a chance from a free-kick.

Yet again VAR has failed to prove its worth. If you can't make the correct decision with slow motion and multiple angles it needs to be eradicated from the game and allow the on pitch ref to make the mistakes. As fans that's easier to accept. This is ludicrous. Never a penalty.

    Jan

Never a penalty for Liverpool but should have been one for Bournemouth earlier. The refs and VAR get worse by the week.

    Duncan

GG: More ridiculous decisions for the "big" home teams. What's the point of VAR? Guarantee a Bournmouth player doing that would be booked for diving.

Drew: Scandalous from VAR and the officials AGAIN in Liverpool - Bournemouth.

Liverpool are playing with the required urgency now.

    Wave after wave of attack.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Fulham 0-0 Brentford

Brentford full-back Aaron Hickey is the first player booked for a mistimed tackle on Sasa Lukic.

I'm sure we'll see a load more yellow cards for dissent and time-wasting etc later on. Almost old-school to see one for a foul.

    Liverpool 2-1 Bournemouth

    Liverpool are in control now.

They have men queuing up in the box but Diogo Jota plays a pass too many and Bournemouth can clear.

    Wolves 0-1 Brighton

    Oh this is very Wolves.

They have another big chance to score as Rayan Aït-Nouri is put through on goal. He has just the goalkeeper to beat and should at least hit the target, but he skies it.

It was Bees captain Christian Norgaard who was getting ready for a tap-in until Antonee Robinson's intervention.

Has a blatant Liverpool dive ever not been given as a foul at Anfield? So much for tougher punishments.

    Callum

Salah shouldn't be taking penalties. He missed yet another but got lucky for the rebound.

    Anon

AP: That is a dive. Without a shadow of a doubt. How has the VAR not told the ref?

Dean: As a Liverpool fan, I think both penalty shouts were soft, surprised Bournemouth didnt even appeal for it. Ours was a bit soft. Guess after this start we take what we can get!!

Mohamed Salah has now scored nine goals in nine appearances in the Premier League against Bournemouth.

He has also contributed to goals in his last eight games in the English top flight (4 goals, 6 assists).

Inches away from a Brentford opener.

Yoane Wissa flicks a shot on from Bryan Mbeumo's cross and it's heading towards either the bottom corner or an onrushing team-mate - but Antonee Robinson does very well to hook the ball away.

    An escape for Fulham.

How unlucky is Neto? He gets a strong left hand to it but Salah follows up and slots into an empty net.

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on Final Score

At one angle I was questioning the call for the penalty but we have seen it again and yes it is the correct call.

What Rothwell is doing there, on the edge of his own box, dangling a leg, I don't know. He gave Szobozslai a chance to go down and he took it.

Bournemouth were not happy about that penalty being awarded.

Neto was even booked for protesting too much.

It was certainly an over-the-top reaction from Dominik Szoboszlai to throw himself to the ground. The contact was real, though.

It has taken a while but Wolves are now giving their home fans something to cheer about as they are creating more chances, this time Pedro Neto flashing a decent effort just over.

Lovely skill by Fulham's Kenny Tete to lose a couple of defenders on the edge of the box but he loses the ball and ends up conceding a free-kick in trying to win it back.
