Skn: Caicedo ..., the worst transfer of the season already

Paul: Chelsea obviously didn’t spend enough in the transfer window.

  2. 'All starts from Caicedo losing the ball again'published at 16:22 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Chelsea 0-1 Nottm Forest

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on Final Score

It starts with Caicedo losing possession in the middle of the park, he's had a bit of a slow start to his Chelsea career. Thiago Silva goes in to the midfield with him, that then leaves a huge gap in the middle of the other two centre backs for Forest to run into.

I don't think you can question the keeper there, it is a great finish from Elanga.

Adam: Fernandes' goal against City stood last season despite a really dodgy offside call, so I don't see why Ake's shouldn't. Officials got it right under the laws. It's the laws that are the problem

Gray: The comparison of City's goal to the Rashford/Fernandes one last season is spot on. Presumably defenders are supposed to know the attacker will be given offside if he touches it and so ignore him. Strange approach but at least consistent.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Brentford 1-1 Bournemouth

It's like watching a game of modern-day basketball this, without the hand checking.

Yoane Wissa does beautifully to cut inside a visiting defender but then directs his effort against the foot of the post from 12 yards or so.

    Really should have scored that.

  6. 'You can't give Maddison that much space'published at 16:19 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Burnley 1-3 Tottenham

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on Final Score

Burnley are so expansive that when it comes to those transitions they are not in good defensive positions, defenders exposed, midfielders are split.

James Maddison was left with far too much time on the edge of the box, acres of space and plenty of time.

Bent the ball into the far corner away from the keeper, no chance of saving it.

Couple of Bournemouth efforts of note within a few moments as Antoine Semenyo and Philip Billing go close.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Man City 2-1 Fulham

Bobby De Cordova-Reid shakes his head in disgust. He's just been booked for something he has said in earshot of the official.

Fulham feeling very hard done by.

  9. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Burnley 1-3 Tottenham

Burnley almost instantly pull one back as Lyle Foster strikes at goal but a sliding Pedro Porro gets a touch on it, with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario tipping it over the bar, and then celebrating as if he's just scored the winning goal.

  10. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Chelsea have failed to win in their last 17 matches when conceding the opening goal in the English Premier League dating back to 1 October 2022 against Crystal Palace.

  11. 'Wonderful finish'published at 16:17 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Burnley 1-3 Tottenham

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Talking about shooting yourself in the foot Burnley, you cannot leave a player of James Maddison quality and class 20-yards out with a free shot at goal.

There was going to be one outcome, it is a wonderful finish.

    Man City 2-1 Fulham

City being very patient with near constant possession of the ball. They have the lead now and this is the scenario when they usually drain the life from an opponent.

  14. Postpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Big appeals for a Chelsea penalty as Moises Caicedo sees his shot blocked by Forest captain Joe Worrall. Nothing doing though.

  15. goal

GOAL - Burnley 1-3 Tottenhampublished at 54 mins

    James Maddison (Tottenham)

    Lovely goal!

Burnley lose possession close to the touchline as Ameen Al-Dakhil is robbed by Destiny Udogie and he knocks it for James Maddison.

The England man has the space to drive forwards and the skill to curl a brilliant effort from 25 yards out into the net to score Tottenham's third. It's a long way back for Burnley now.

As a Liverpool fan, I'd love the day to end with West Ham at the top! Think this season's going to be a battle royale come the end.

    Mike

Wish Spurs fans would stop moaning about only 1 true striker in Richie. Son was top scorer in the PL 2 seasons ago.

    Man City 2-1 Fulham

Phil Foden is the main creative force for City here. He is very bright.

He darts in behind the Fulham defence and is found but he can only hook a cross straight at Bernd Leno.

  18. CLOSE!published at 16:13 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Burnley 1-2 Tottenham

Josh Brownhill nearly makes an impact as a sub, curling at goal from 25 yards after another fearless run from Luca Koleosho, taking on and skipping past a few Spurs players.

Brownhill's effort is just over the top, but Burnley are still well in this game.

  19. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forestpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

    Anthony Elanga

Like a hot knife through butter. Chelsea lose the ball deep in their own half and Taiwo Awoniyi slips a pass through the legs of Thiago Silva to feed Anthony Elanga.

The former Manchester United man has very little to do and slots his effort into the bottom right corner. His first Premier League goal for Forest.

The away fans are going wild.

    Burnley 1-2 Tottenham

No changes at the break from Tottenham, who are heading for 10 points from a possible 12 in the post-Kane era as it stands.

But a double change from Burnley as Hannes Delcroix and Josh Brownhill replace Johann Gudmundsson and Sander Berge.
