The corners though are poor and Sunderland are held out. Vaclav Hladky has to come and punch away a swirling Patrick Roberts cross and nails his own man.

Painful moment for Janoi Donacien, as he receives treatment. Couldn't get out of the way.

Ipswich Town just ghosting through Sunderland but Leif Davis' cross is easily cleared.

Patrick Roberts gets nibbled at a few times but no free-kick, he was causing problems.

Eventually, Sam Barrott bites and gives a set-piece.

Ipswich withdraw Conor Chaplin and George Hirst, with debutant Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson and Freddie Ladapo coming on.

Sunderland midfielder Pierre Ekwah releases Abdoullah Ba down the left and he has a run at the Ipswich defence, however the blue shirts converge, smother and then pick up the loose ball.

All a bit hit and hope.

That is great play from Leif Davis. He knows that if he gets past Trai Hume and gets fouled, the lad will get sent off.

The young lad didn't deserve to get sent off, but those are the laws of the game.

Nathan Broadhead comes off for Ipswich having scored, to a pleasant reception all round given his Wearside links, and Marcus Harness is sent on.

Trai Hume receives a second booking for Sunderland as he drags at Leif Davis.

No hesitation. Looked a bit harsh. Maybe it was something he said?

Either way, Sunderland down to 10.

Luke Woolfenden tumbles as Jack Clarke puts a shoulder in on the edge of the Ipswich box, and for a second thinks he's created a chance for Sunderland.

Sam Barrott disagrees and it's a free-kick to the visitors.

Nathan Broadhead lofts a free-kick harmlessly over. Sunderland get the goalkick moving quickly. As The Stranglers sang: "Ain't got time to wait. Something better change..."

It's been a very good start to the second half for Ipswich.

Ipswich have knocked the stuffing out of Sunderland in this half. They got the goal just before half-time which is a great time to score for an away team and you can see now, have Sunderland got a leader out there?

Ipswich are very comfortable and look more likely to get the next goal.

Alex Pritchard threads a ball into the Ipswich box for Sunderland but it's soaked up with ease.

Ipswich try to break in reply, but Dan Ballard's considerable presence halts their progress.

The ball goes loose. Frustrating. Why didn't Roberts let one go?

Janoi Donacien sends a pass through to Sam Morsy that doesn't have the correct postage, and Morsy is forced to clobber Alex Pritchard to avoid conceding possession.

His penalty at the post office is a booking. Morsy copping one there, Donacien might want to pay his fine.

I'm pleased for George Hirst to get that goal.

First half, he was feeding on scraps but he kept working hard and making runs.

If you work hard, you'll get what you deserve.

Conor Chaplin shows good strength to steal the ball in Sunderland territory, wriggle out of trouble and find Wes Burns, whose low cross is deflected behind for a corner.

Leif Davis' corner is pumped away by the Wearsiders.

Sunderland bring on experience, relatively.
