Herve Renard makes a little bit of history tonight, as the first coach to take charge at a Women's World Cup having previously coached at the men's tournament.

Renard took Saudi Arabia to Qatar 2022 - overseeing their stunning win over Argentina - having taken Morocco to Russia four years previously.

The former Zambia, Lille and Cambridge United manager - among many, many others - was an emergency draft in March following the Diacre sacking, but feels like he has had an immediate impact.

“It’s a great pleasure to be with the team, even for only a short time," he said. "They are very dedicated.”

France have been their own worst enemy at recent tournaments as they struggled for unity under former boss Corinne Diacre - but there's optimism they could finally end their wait for Women's World Cup success.

Now managed by Herve Renard, who masterminded Saudi Arabia's shock win against eventual champions Argentina at last year's men's World Cup, they are among the favourites to win the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Captain Wendie Renard, no relation to the coach, is taking part in her fourth World Cup and her experience will be vital for the French, while 19-year-old Paris St-Germain midfielder Laurina Fazer is an exciting prospect.

"Obviously France are one of the top three or four teams in the world, but our preparation has been good and we want to show fight," said Jamaica manager Lorne Donaldson.

"We want to make our country proud and get something out of the game."

France are a proud footballing nation, they have said they want to get to the quarter-finals but I think they are in a transition phase and I think it will be really hard for them to win the tournament.

France will be favourites in this game today.

Teenager Ava Adolphe is at the Sydney Football Stadium to support France.

She's a born and bred Aussie but her dad Alain - a Liverpool fan - hails from French-speaking Mauritius.

"We're supporting France tonight," she tells me, and predicts a 2-0 win for Les Bleues.

Ava and her family were at Australia's opening win against the Republic of Ireland and are lovely the World Cup.

"It's been brilliant so far and we're loving the atmosphere at games," she said.

It's a carnival atmosphere outside the Sydney Football Stadium, which sits in between the cricket and rugby league grounds.

There was a DJ blasting tunes with a band playing drums alongside it, some freestylers performing tricks, a penalty shootout challenge (below) and... men dressed up in referee outfits with giant legs?!

Herve Renard sticks to the attacking 4-3-3 he deployed to good effect in France's warm-up matches, marshalled by Wendie Renard at the back and led by record scorer Eugenie Le Sommer up front.

Highly rated forward Selma Bacha is on the bench, having been an injury concern for this game. Renard said at his press conference yesterday that he expects her to be fit to start against Brazil in their second match.

The one absence is Elisa De Almeida, who picked up a foot injury in training.

Jamaica captain Khadija Shaw leads the line as expected. Nicknamed "Bunny", she scored 31 goals in 30 matches for Manchester City last season.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer and midfielder Drew Spence - who earned two England caps before switching nationalities - both start.

Atlanta Primus, who plays in the English second tier for London City Lionesses, is also among the XI.

Hello and welcome along to the third and final game of day four of the Fifa Women's World Cup and this should be a good one as France take on Jamaica at Sydney Football Stadium.

It's kick-off at 11:00 BST and the teams are in so there's no time to waste.

It has already been a dramatic 2023 for the French women's team as manager Corinne Diacre was sacked in March after a number of senior players said they wouldn't play under her anymore.

That happened just four months before the World Cup, which begins for them today against Jamaica, who can call on the talents of Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw.

But Jamaica's preparations have also been disrupted and last month a group statement from the players spoke of "utmost disappointment" in the "subpar" support from the country's football federation in the lead up to the tournament.

Can either side put their off-field problems behind them and start with a win?
